    Have you ever been afraid...

Have you ever been afraid that someday you might 'lose it'? You know, go bat shit crazy?
I once told a therapist 'everything', this was back in the '90s and I was deeply depressed. He replied that in light of all that I had gone through that it was hard to believe that I wasn't either dead, in prison on drugs or an alcoholic.

Some times, when I least expect it, the demons from the past appear, it's like a darkness closing in. It's like reliving all of it in just a few minutes.
I wonder how I made it this far. I feel lucky that I have.

Not in a "crazy" sort of way, but I have a bad temper. I wouldn't lose it like "shoot the place up", but I have come close to punching someone.

To me throttling some asshole would seem far more satisfying than shooting them.

Yup. That’s why I make sure to take all of my meds and see my psychiatrist at least 4 times a year. Doing a lot better now then I was before I was given a proper diagnosis 9-10 years ago. Now I’m just like, I’ll never be “normal” “perfect” or “happy” 100% of the time and just kinda go with the mood swings of being Bipolar, but make sure to intervene if they get extreme.

There's quite a family history, so yesssss....

Fall is coming, and with the shorter days, I'm pretty sure I'm fighting off a round of undiagnosed SAD. I make sure I get up early and not stay up too late, taking advantage of as much daylight as I can. I also throw myself into a bunch of projects so stay busy...no time to feel down. Just tired.

And that is exactly why I think therapy is incredibly bad for an awful lot of people
I have a sister who, specifically through therapy, suffers with false memory syndrome
It causes a lot of problems and heartache for the family

In my opinion, people who worry about falling apart emotionally or psychologically are usually the ones who don't. It's the people who lack insight and awareness that tend to lose it.

Re: Have you ever been afraid...

I am aware of the possibility of dementia. It is present in the family. So is alcoholism.

But I also have enough experience in the field of health and mental health to be aware of the potential triggers and signs of issues.

Recently I have gone through a series of tests for memory as well as having brain scans to make sure that the issues I have been experiencing over the last 10 months are the result of post herpetic neuralgia and nothing more serious.

And I also am philosophical enough to know that we get what we get. If I end up in an asylum...it will be great Karma.
