Their policy needs to be a little more precise. I wonder if a woman dressed like Kim Kardashian would be asked to leave? That man's suit had more material than Kim's entire bikini.

The hotel has changed their policy after being embarrassed by the negative press.

    Speedos are now acceptable.

Re: If your swim suit was offensive...

It seems like the policy was "No Speedos" but he was wearing a different brand but still a bikini style swimsuit. Was he arguing that it wasn't a "Speedo"? That's what it seemed. The hotel seemed to use that word instead of brief/bikini style swimwear since that's what it's commonly referred to whether it's a real "Speedo" or not. Just a technicality in the wording. The real argument is that they found it too revealing. What if he was wearing one of those square cut suits?

The second video in the link shows another man being shoved off the dance podium because he had the temerity to dance in the same way that the women were dancing. He was dressed in a normal bathing suit. It's clear that the policy of the Beach Club is to promote female objectification, but not male.

In the background, you can also see that a woman on the edge of the pool is wearing a bikini, so the who dress code is doing the same thing, denying men to show the same skin women are showing.

I wonder how the company would handle it if a man wore the bikini and the same top.

Anyway, who are the complainers ?

Poor dear. He's so gay that this seems to happen to him a lot:

    From his Twitter account:
I was profiled and searched for being gay by @TSA today at Houston Bush airport @iah ... “spread your legs wider...wider” the agent repeated. So messed up. Left my laptop at security I was so upset

WTF is that got to do with sexuality? Even the gay guy was the first to label "gay" a plain (ok, it was blindingly yellow) speedo... America, America.

I move on with my life. Not everything has to be about social justice.

Remember when I told you guys about my incident with having to answer to a cop outside of walmart for having multiple transactions? There were a few people who accused me of making it up even though nothing exciting happened. Their main reason for accusing me of lying was why didn't I cause a scene? That really shows the kind of attitude that's prevalent today. Why does everything have to be about social justice? Why does everything needs to be made a scene?

Why not just go somewhere else?

Sure, I want to be famous. But not for something stupid like this.

It is not about social justice. Its about inconvenience.
If you are not allow to eat in a restaurant or a park for no good reason ... etc
If you are not allow to shop in certain place for no good reason .... etc

Can you go somewhere else and for how many times before you take action ?

But making a scene was effective.

Do you not agree that their treatment of this guy wasn't reasonable? Regardless of if their sexuality had anything to do with it.

I don't care that the treatment was reasonable or not. If you want to be a martyr, find a cause that is actually worthy to be a martyr of.

The guy made a big deal over literally nothing. The fact of the matter is it is their establishment. We should treat their rules like we should treat every other rule. Be reasonable about it. They say no things like speedos. Even if the brand name of what he wore was not speedo, he goddamn knew what it meant.

In this case, the attention whore purposefully wore something he knew damn well was borderline against the rules. He purposefully stirred shit up.

Like I said, if he wanted to be a victim, martyr, or the next mother Teresa, find an actual worthy cause.

If I were maybe 45 years younger and had the body to go with it, yes.

This day and age, I think that pool would require a burqa on me.

^ The facial hair and those sad two and a half hairs on the top of his head are what made the "speedo" look so "improper": you simply can't wear anything with just anything and expect to get away with it, only because you are part of an oppressed minority.

Honestly, it was the whole look that made him "look [SO] gay". Some Armani- or Briatore-looking ancient fart might have got a pass or, at least, a different treatment, irrespective of their own reaction to any heads-up.

My father is straight and wears comparable bikini swim suits, in Europe many pools it's obligatory to wear skin tight swim suits.

This is not about "bikini swim suits", this is about America's problem with them.

It's like recalling the Third Reich era to the Germans: something that makes them ashamed of themselves.

America, even the "progressive" one, has a problem with female nipples, male bulges and nudity in general. It's a tradition, part of their culture and identity as a people. For some it's fundamental, and the rest simply do not care, as this very thread shows about the indifference with which the speedo issue is handled.
Actually, it's a bad seed inherited from European prudishness (what we have to suffer as males so as to appear with a flat crotch whenever we want to buy a plain pair of trousers makes it quite obvious), but you know that, over there, everything grows bigger and butchier.

Again men are forced to hide their maleness while women are encouraged to flaunt their femininity. I wonder who's calling those shots? Why should we be ashamed of our parts? Fuck them. I say we all wear banana hammocks.

I would think swimming nude would have been fine in Europe---in USA it seems really weird today---same with small bathing suits---I've seen pics of European beaches and Brazilian beaches and the dudes balls are practically hanging out. Still today in Brazil the smaller the suits the better.

Not the "status", but the fact of cutting for the silliest excuse like "hygiene": like he would have more trouble washing his family jewels than the hair on his head, or one would be more exposed to bugs than the other

We all know there are the three basic golden excuses for everything: hygiene, security and protecting the children-.

If "God" had told him to do so, it would be an even sillier reason, but I'm not entering into that

They do all that in Brazil because they want to made up as much as possible for the fact that both men and women are actually not allowed to go "all the way" in public... not even the female nipple way.

If someone's swimsuit was offensive and they removed it, then they'd be naked, which might be even more offensive to some people.

Which could only be topped by the guy in question being hung ten inches: then EVERYBODY (well, almost ) would feel crossed about it

No ome can hide anything from you, can they? I was using what I would call 'tongue in cheek' humor when I posed the question.

They did not say "no things like Speedos". They said the exact opposite: no boardshorts, no streetwear or things like that, but ONLY proper swimming gear. He was FOLLOWING their rules, not breaking them.

What they did is the exact same thing as not allowing blacks, not because they're black, but because they are not following the dress code, when they are actually following the dress code. What they did was discriminate.

Again, you're going back to the rule. No, they did not specifically say no whatever he was wearing. But insert common sense. Even if his common sense was broken, it is their establishment. If they told him what he was wearing was inappropriate, he should have left and come back wearing something more appropriate. My house my rules.

You're comparing this case to the plight of blacks?

There's a difference between "law" and "rules": the yellow guy was appealing to law, you stick to mere "rules".

    Their establishment. Their rules.

The law in Colorado permits recreational weed smoking. My company does not tolerate potheads, period.

But the rules said he had to wear "proper swimming gear" as opposed to things you can also wear out of a swimming pool. He was wearing proper swimming gear, not jumping into the pool in streetclothes. So again, he was following their rules.

They can make their own rules, but they cannot just change them on the spot, much less after you've paid. You cannot demand people wear swimming gear and then kick someone out for wearing swimming gear. This will not stand in court.

^ stand up in court? You're willing to make a mountain out of something like this? I would like to disassociate myself from the gay community if this is the case.

Their establishment and their rules are under the US Constitution.

Anything else one may pretend to oppose to that is BS.

If they smoked pot they might be more tolerant.
An establishment has a right to make rules that apply equally to all people.

For example, to discriminate against ALL those who are not Christian, or white, or both... or straight
