Thanks, looking forward to it.
Just about to start on BBC1 Scotland.....
My verdict on Deep Breath: Fantastic.
Just finished watching it.
Certainly a more demure and understated Doctor - which is a good thing actually. I often got very tired and irritated by the last two actors (Tennant's and especially Smith's) manic crazy histrionics and overreactions and mood swings and hyperactivity.
This episode was by comparison, remarkably slow-paced. (i.e. completely normal)
Oh and I was certainly NOT expecting to see....
(spoiler)
[a fairly lengthy cameo appearance by Matt Smith at the end of the episode]
@unloadonme, you are correct: I meant Tom Baker.
@ChickenGuy, you are correct: Tennant and Smith were too frenetic.
The Guardian's review (Blog):
NOTE: Have not read the article because waiting to see the episode.Doctor Who recap: series 34, episode one – Deep Breath
So Peter Capaldi has finally boarded the Tardis, and in the end he was ... probably how you imagined he’d be: intimidating, bold and unsettling
SPOILER ALERT: This weekly blog is for those who have been watching the new series of Doctor Who. Don’t read ahead if you haven’t seen episode 1 – Deep Breath
I enjoyed it, though I feel like I'm slightly biased if my avatar didn't give that away already :P
I'm looking forward to see how Capaldi fares in the rest of this series but he's been pretty great already in my opinion.
Didn't like it. Ugly, ordinary and pointless.
I thought it was okay but I couldn't understand the new doctor because he spoke so fast and with his Glaswegian accent
Yeah I've been relying on the subtitles a lot. Can't wait to see the second ep tonight!
I just saw the latest ep. It was fantastic. It was a bold choice going into the Dalek like that. It really paid off. Plus mr pink is super cute
