Gah! My keyboard suxxx! But I type about seventy WPM on average, faster if I'm writing what I think, slower if I'm typing copy.

Extra characters are always my main problem; that has always been true since I was forced to abandon manual typewriters quite a few years ago. Extra characters (and, therefore, having to go back to correct) have always slowed me down. In the manual days, my typing errors were nearly unknown and nonexistent, and I have never replicated the kind of speed that I had on Manual.
Some keyboards are far worse than others. The ones with NO space between the keys (such as on laptops) absolutely KILL me. On those, I can type as many as 15% to 20% extra/superfluous characters, and it's a hideous nightmare. It is even WORSE on smart phones.
My WPM crashes down to about 20 on a laptop keyboard, and probably no better than 7 or 8 WPM on the shrunken keyboard on a smart phone.

Weird thing is that the most problematic and time consuming thing for me is the punctuation as it's different in English and French. For example we have a space after a coma. Don't know if there is other languages available to test other than English.

In school, (over 40 years ago), I usually hit over 60 WPM with zero errors. Guess sex isn't the only thing that slows down as you age.

I am not going to try this. I am an old Englishman with trembling hands typing of a French keyboard having learnt to type in England.
So obviously I am going to fail abysmally. I don't need to feel belittled and hopeless at the present moment; I want praise, compliments and perhaps a bunch of roses.![]()
My typing skills are rated not in "words per minuet" but rather "minuets per word"...And if I have to think as well..............let's not go there.

Last time I took a typing test I did 80 wpm. But typing has become irrelevant to me since I mostly type with one finger on my iPad and phone.

Unfortunately I think faster than I type, and prompt scary .gif files when I don't properly punctuate between your, you're, and yours, or their, they're, and there here in Hot Topics.

Yeah I got 50 something but this thing is really frustrating because when I start typing it just skips and goes to results and I'm like 'um helloooo where's my minute motherfuckers?' so I gave up :/ also I'm much faster typing what I'm thinking than copying o:
edit: now this thing is just fucking with me -_-
it's putting in characters in words that don't belong there then marking the ones I typed as extra.. where is apparently spelled as whfrew
The range of typing speeds in here in amazing, especially since 100% of people in this Forum type regularly. (I haven't noticed any large number of people who seldom contribute, coming into this thread.)
I suggest an idea: Perhaps mention whether you're using a full-size keyboard, or whether you're using some device like a smart phone, or an iPad. Perhaps even come up with two typing speeds, or even three, using different setups.
It would be curious to see how much typing speed suffers with smaller keyboards, especially small enough that "hunt and peck" is the mandatory method of typing.

Not the fastest, but I didn't miss or add anything wrong. Bit disappointed, I thought I'd do better.
