I'm in love with Matt R. Salmon (former Log Cabin pres. of AZ)

OMG......I can't hold this in any longer........I think I'm going to faint!

I have a major crush on Matt R. Salmon, son of AZ Republican US Rep. Matt J. Salmon. The older Matt Salmon (the father) made news when he said that even though he accepts that his son, Matt, is gay, he prefers that marriage be defined as between one man & one woman.

Matt R. Salmon (the gay son) was former president of the AZ chapter of Log Cabin Republicans. He's a doctor now (or will be soon). Matt R. Salmon supports same-sex marriage & made a video for "It gets better", but he is a gay Republican.

Matt just had an interview with Washington Blade.

I feel sorry for poor young Mr Salmon. A man who spent many years of his life hating himself, believing from his own parents that he was wrong, depraved, inappropriate. A young man who was put through the damaging process of having self-proclaimed "counsellors" attempt to reverse his gayness, make him "right".

And now, even though he's found the strength to be out, his father still can't offer him the basic human right that he would offer any straight person, won't give his own son's relationship the same standing and significance than a straight person.

It breaks my heart to see the pain in this guys words, and to hear him attempt to justify his father's bigotry. If this guy is finally finding some happiness and self value in his life, it is in spite of his father, not becasue of him.

For the record, the Mormon Church refused to accept him after he came out and he resigned completely from it.

Mine too. I think every son wants to please his father, but it appears that unconditional love from the father isn't going to happen anytime soon. When Matt finally lifts the weight off his own shoulders, he might feel like someone let him out of jail. Doing the video is a step in the right direction, IMHO. In the video, he seemed to be so sad and gave the impression that he was still hurting.

I think he will have a bright future, if he chooses to have one. Good luck Matt.
