So, I stumbled on this little gem. Another sad pathetic "ex-gay" case of falling off the wagon. I wouldn't really be as gloating if the asshole wasn't an active anti-gay blogger too. Here's a little bit of his self-hatred:

The grindr profile was really mine. I’ve been on it on and off for the last couple of weeks. Like I told the guy who sent you the picture, I am wrong in having been on grindr. I haven’t changed my views on homosexuality, the bible, etc. Creating a grindr profile and talking to guys on it was major disobedience on my part….disobedience to Christ. Disobedience to a loving and gracious God. Thankfully, I believe that He forgives me for this disobedience. I believe the blood of Christ covers this disobedience. And I won’t be on grindr again….ever. The pastor of my church and the church body I am a part of were informed about me being on grindr (I told them) before all of this came out, publicly.

I am almost too disgusted to actually be depressed about how miserable this kid must be...

Yesterday I went and had my third and final HIV/AIDS test at a local HIV/AIDS clinic in Shreveport. In June of 2010, I had unprotected sex with someone who was HIV positive—and yes, he did tell me beforehand. But I was drunk and told him that I didn’t care. As you might expect, I was severely depressed and afraid the next day—and since I didn’t know how to deal with that kind of fear, I just put it out of my mind completely and pretended like it never happened. I don’t know how I was successful at doing this… I guess I just kept myself busy. And saturated with alcohol.

that too. all of a sudden, some dude's looks outweighs his actions. it irks me whenever i hear about a killer having a fan club, admirers with women flocking to marry him and etc like that nightstalker richard rameriez or ted bundy. disgusting. i can see why the younger guys are getting caught up in the whole superficial/vanity mentality because they see it all around them. the good looking person gets treated nicely and rewarded for being good looking even if they're an asshole or a pedophile.

One thing...as others have said...I don't think he is "ex gay" at all...I think he is a prisoner of his own fears....and so on a strictly personal level...I do have some sympathy for him because I am well aware of the external forces that work 24/7 to create these conditions in which he is living in fear and shame...

I have to believe that somewhere deep inside himself he didn't want to grow up to be such a collassal douchebag.

In my eyes...sympathy is not such a good thing...it would be better if I had some empathy for him and I have none. I cannot relate to his fear and I especially hate the manner in which he acts out because his actions and words potentially can affect and damage lots of good people and he is part of a huge problem.

I don't know if that makes any sense but sympathy and empathy are two different things entirely in my opinion.

I agree with you. And there are things we shouldn't force ourselves to either sympathize or empathize with, at least in my view. I can appreciate that someone's background and influences and the way they were raised brought them to a certain point or predisposed them to be more or less capable of handling certain things than other people, and I can feel sorry for them for that, but where they choose to go with that as capable adults has to reflect something about them and their values too. People aren't just a confluence of what people drilled into them growing up.

Maybe I'm a small person for finding so much joy in his getting outed... is it outing when you were gay, and then you "weren't" gay, but now you "are again"?

Ex-gays do so much more damage than maybe we understand. They don't really damage us directly, because we know better. Someone comes up to us and says, "I'm not gay anymore and you don't have to be either", we laugh. It's an outrageous statement to make. It's hilarious. So we shrug it off. No problem.

But these jerks fuel the religious organizations. My father-in-law is a pastor and he believes in ex-gay ministries. He and his wife LOVE hearing stories about ex-gays. They mention it every once in a while. For them, ex-gays legitimize their bigotry. They give hope to all these people who would have us revert "back to" hetrosexuality.

When I was in university, my husband (he was my boyfriend at the time) and I joined the campus Christian group. When they found out we were gay, things changed. They urged us to visit NARTH, email Exodus, and listen to vlogs by Ex-gays... The Christian group could name 20 ex-gays off the top of their heads! So they are more relevant than maybe we give them credit for. Ex-gays have a following.

I can't help but think if there were fewer or no ex-gays to fall back on, my religious friends would be less likely to believe in it.
