seems my email address was in fact an old one. why do i automatically assume that such emails are malicious and from hacking spammers?

i checked it out and found that the email on my JUB account was in deed an old out of service email addy. so whaddya know, what i thought was spam was actually correct...

No, it was spam. But I'm not sure what they were trying to do

If you update your e-mail addy with us, the spammer doesn't have anything from it. He probably was hoping that you would reply by PM

All arriving exactly 1-hour apart: 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, ... and another just now arrived 10:30pm
I'm thinking it might actually be some sorta system error? Also lately I've only been erratically been getting the "new reply to post" emails. not sure if thats related?
(my email address in fine LOL)

I got the email update spam too. I didn't get any come-ons, though...

I too am getting these e-mails. My e-mail addy is correct. Hasn't changed. I'm just deleting all each morning...

update: it means that your mail server told the jub mail server that your mail address does not exist. but the problem should be fixed now.
