With so many referendums and what not on the ballots across many states, this is one that got surprisingly little attention.
Puerto Rico passed a referendum to vote for statehood which now gets put in Congress' hands.
If it actually does pass through both houses, that will shake up the Legislative branch with 2 new senators and 5 congresspeople (population is about 3.7 million people near Oregon and Connecticut). Not sure how exactly they would vote political party wise. It would make for an interesting dynamic especially with a big majority of the people there speak only Spanish.
