So what's like being married?

You can keep your bank accounts separate, you can elect to open a joint bank account. But you should explore the legalities of joint account ownership with the bank you're with.

You can protect your stuff by having pre-nup agreements so when it doesn't work out, they can't just take half your stuff or more.

I really enjoy being married. It's like having a built in best friend, or an automatic hang out buddy and a fuck buddy all in one. . The best part is you don't have to leave after the deed. You don't mind doing their dirty laundry because they cook your favourite food for you. They'll lend you a couple bucks when you need it and not ask for it back. You strive to make them happy because they strive to make you happy. You don't mind giving them the remote once in a while. You build a life with them, laugh with them, cry with them, worry about them. And, after 25 years together (November 30 ) the Earth still moves when you make love. You know their body better than your own, every scar, every mark, every wrinkle. And it's all ok.

Well, I'm not legally married to him, but we've been together 4 years. We've talked about getting it legally done, but it's not a big priority for either of us. We have all the legal paperwork done up already, wills power of attorney, stuff like that. I'm only semi-out at work and am probably not going to change that. I'd kind of like that if the UK passes gay marriage for us to go back to London where he's from and get it done there. But then I keep nudging him to move us there permanently anyway Unfortunately his work is here.

We share everything but do keep some things a little separate. Like I have my own bank account in addition to the joint one. He makes more money than I do, by a lot right now. My income fluctuates and right now it's at the lower end. I only walked two shows each in Milan & Paris for SS13, none in NY or London, and my photoshoots haven't been what I'd like them to be, no editorials or major campaigns. If it wasn't for Asian fashion mags I probably wouldn't have worked much at all this year. We talked about it and decided that he'd cover the basic expenses for both of us, rent utilities car, stuff like that. But anything wild, like my passion for clothes (for which he teases me unmercifully! ), comes out of my own unless we talk about it first.

The rest of our life is pretty much 50/50. Any major decisions are talked about (that took awhile to happen, he's used to just making them on his own, but we worked through that in the first year). Housework and stuff, well we just pick up after ourselves and it manages to get done. He cooks most of the time because he's amazing at it and I'm only learning.

As for sex dropping off, well that's NEVER going to happen. We fuck as much as ever and in many ways it's better than it was at the beginning. And there's no WAY I'm getting fat. For one thing, my body is my work and I take care of it, for the other (and probably more important), I am way to addicted to having him be able to pick me up and toss me about when we're fucking. He works out regularly and runs. We're going to be together a long time and we know his age is a factor, so he keeps fit and healthy. He's totally gorgeous and can fuck for HOURS.

But the physical only goes so far. More importantly, he's my friend and lover and mentor and just everything to me. I can't imagine life without him.
