I never did but I liked the mag.
I quite liked the series. It was always on so late in Australia but I caught it when I could.
Miss Swan was always funny.
And this one...
For all sad words of tongue and pen,
The saddest are these, 'It might have been.'
Loved Stuart and Miss Swan, the rest of the show was hit or miss as far as being funny, but those two were always funny.
The reason the show failed, was that the most talented members of the show, were able to go on to get other jobs. They were replaced by nobodies who had less than half the talent. The producers should have worked harder to retain the original cast members. Plus, as time went on, the direction of the comedy changed. I loved the first couple of seasons, and stopped watching when the talent went.

Alot of the original cast were considered nobodies to begin with aswell but the cast of the last few series were certainly not great when it came to writing good comedy like the cast of the first few series were.
I enjoy the early to mid season episodes of the show, I don't think it was ever shown on TV here though which is a shame.
Crista Flanagan and Nicole Parker were pretty good in the newer cast though, Michael McDonald who was there since season 4, was on the show till the second-to-last season, so at least he was there. Plus Stephanie Weir stayed till mid-season 11. True, after Michael left, the show was on its last leg. My all time favorites are Nicole Sullivan, Mo Collins, and Debra Wilson. Did Debra find any work? She did an amazing job singing in skits and she did a great Oprah and Whitney Houston lol
Favorite character was hands down the Vancome Lady lol
I loved it. Here in Oz it was stuck on at 1 or 2 a.m. - thank fuck for VCRs/DVRs!
"MadTv" was so awesome!!!
Dr Phil and Oprah.....I fucking LOVE this!

The show was really funny in the beginning, but right at the end it got stupid and unhappy. Was the better that SNL during the late to early 90's for me growing up.
I can agree to an extent, its like MADTV and SNL were both the same the same types of shows. I liked MADTV more, and SNL probabily is only still around because its been around since the 70's, and its so well known and popular even though ive heard the cast isnt very funny.
Loved the show right until near the end - Micheal McDonald, Debra Wilson, Mo Collins, Stephanie Wier and Ike Baronhotz(spelling?) were irreplaceable - not to say others like Aries Spears, Nicole Sullivan(who I ADORE) and others in that vein weren't... I wish that those names, however, had the celerity that the SNL cast did, but in a way, I think that makes me like them MORE.
Some of my favorite skits!
"There’s death on the horizon,
and I’ll run to behold your sacrifice..."
I LOVED Mrs. Swan.
She is now the voice of Peter's wife on Family Guy.
MadTV also had some really excellent parodies of The Wizzard of Oz. In one of them, the good witch of the north tells Dorothy that she always had the power to go back home whenever she wished. Dorothy freaks out and says something like, "You crazy bitch! I could have gone home whenever I wanted?! I nearly died here!"
I never thought about it like that before
JACKAAAAASS! (shame they censored Aries' peen)
Loved the show, loved Dot,Ms.Swan, The Gap Troll, The old people show with Muriel Westig, pocket hulk was DA Bomb!!!
Reading this thread has brought up a lot of memories. I always enjoyed madTV, especially the first seasons. Lot of talented people.
Stewart, Ms Swan, the Vancome Lady, and so many more. And some of the guys were pretty cute as well. I might start checking out some of those youtube clips.
