This is something my roomie talk about a lot when we watch the show. There is a lot of talent on the show but there is little soul to it. I immediately axe a singer if they cannot play a musical instrument [having met several music majors, one cannot major in "voice".] There are plenty of talented singers that should be relegated to musical theatre because they have no soul/emotion behind what they sing. Perfect example is Trevan. He can sing ballads with relative ease, but he has no depth. On the flip side, Melanie has a ton of soul but her singing voice is "limited".
Reckon this is from The Voice UK, but this performance by Bo Bruce is what got me hooked on her. She reminds me a lot of Florence + The Machine. You can feel her emotion in the song despite it not being her own and she can sing too...
