Thanks for giving it a listen with an open mind.![]()
Great find! I really like this!![]()
you are at the top of my lungs ♥
Apparently, I get the Tin Ear Award (again). Four of my friends have approached me this week telling me how utterly incredible this group is. Two unrelated guys said they literally listen to the album from start to finish, from the second they wake up until they go to sleep - IT'S THAT GOOD. Guess i'll be on the sidelines for this one, too.
Lex
i love this band! i've been raving about them to anyone that will listen. totally understated, extremely sexy music. it's a shame because alot of people will write them off just becaus eof how much hype they're receiving. check out the song "VCR" too
good find!
I found them on Aime Street. Bought two of their songs. I like em so far.
I LOVE this band too
I've been telling all my friends to buy the album, amazing stuff.
My fav song is Crystalized![]()
Those busy boys and girls who make up The xx have released another great remix.
This time round it’s a remix of a cover featuring new vocals, get that?
‘You Got The Love’ was originally a hit for The Source and Candi Staton back in 1991.
Florence & The Machine covered the track for her debut album ‘Lungs’ and regularly performs it at concerts.
Now The xx have remixed the track and added their own vocals along side Florence’s.

i don't like them as much as everyone else seems to... kind of bores me & i can't decide if the fact that they just use a drum machine is impressive or lame.
just 'cause i'm shallow doesn't mean that i'm heartless
just 'cause i'm heartless doesn't mean that i'm mean

It's official. I'm the only person I know who doesn't like this band.
Lex
I was disappointed they didn't include "Teardrops" on the album.
if you pass under a rainbow, you will turn from a girl into a boy.
Playing approximately three hundred CMJ shows can wear a group down. Just ask the xx, who are currently suffering the consequences of a particularly busy time in New York City last week.
Last night, they were forced to play a London gig without keyboardist-guitarist Baria Quereshi, who was absent due to "exhaustion," according to a spokesperson from their label. For the same reason, the xx have canceled four upcoming European gigs.
The band will be back in action for their November 3 show Frankfurt, Germany, along with the myriad dates booked through the beginning of March. Just looking at their schedule makes me feel a bit light-headed.

The xx, Dizzee Rascal Make Mercury Prize Shortlist
UK. alt-rock veteran Paul Weller's 10th solo album and Dublin-based quintet Villagers' debut have made the shortlist for the 2010 Barclaycard Mercury Prize, along with albums from the xx, Dizzee Rascal and Corinne Bailey Rae.
The 12-strong shortlist was unveiled at London venue the Hospital Club today by BBC radio and TV presenter Lauren Laverne. The annual "album of the year" award is open to albums by British and Irish artists; eligible albums this year had to be released between July 2009 and July 2010.
According to the chair of judges Simon Frith, "this year's Mercury list includes musicians from all stages of their careers and from contrasting parts of the British Isles. It features music that is urban and rural, light and dark, joyful and profound. The records have wit, an abundance of musical energy and their own distinct voices. There is music here to make you laugh, cry, dance and sing."
The full list is:
Biffy Clyro - "Only Revolutions" (14th Floor/Warner)
Corinne Bailey Rae - "The Sea" (EMI)
Dizzee Rascal - "Tongue N' Cheek" (Dirtee Stank)
Kit Downes Trio - "Golden" (Basho)
Foals - "Total Life Forever" (Trangressive)
I Am Kloot - "Sky At Night" (Shepherd Moon/EMI)
Laura Marling - "I Speak Because I Can" (Virgin/EMI)
Mumford and Sons - "Sigh No More" (Island/Universal)
Paul Weller - "Wake Up The Nation" (Island/Universal)
Villagers - "Becoming A Jackal" (Domino Records)
Wild Beasts - "Two Dancers" (Domino Records)

The xx win Mercury Music Prize for debut album
Mercury Music Prize win a "weird moment of clarity" for The xx
The xx have won this year's Mercury Music Prize for their debut album xx.
The London-based three-piece formed in 2005 and released their record in August last year.
The trio won the revered prize ahead of 11 other shortlisted acts including favourite Paul Weller, Biffy Clyro and Dizzee Rascal to win the Ł20,000 prize.
Accepting the prize on stage, frontman Oliver Sim said: "I don't know what we were expecting but we weren't expecting this."
He added: "Thank you so much. We've had the most incredible year and it has just felt like every day we've just woken up to something incredible we just weren't expecting.
"It has felt just like a haze. Being here is like a moment of clarity in all that's happening."

In the summer of 2010 Mercury Music Prize winners (and Everything But The Girl fans) The xx asked Tracey Thorn and her long-time partner in EBTG Ben Watt (also Strange Feeling label boss) to record a track from the The xx’s debut album for a special compilation the band were commissioning of covers of the album's songs by their favourite artists. Unfortunately the project fell apart a few months later for numerous logistical reasons (not least the second wind breathed into the original album by the Mercury Prize victory) but not before Tracey had sung a new version of one the album most beautiful tracks, 'Night Time'.
The track gathered dust for a few months but it is rightfully seeing the light of day on a new EP from Tracey Thorn called the 'Night Time EP', released on Strange Feeling on October 31, much to the delight of all concerned. 'Night Time' was handpicked by Tracey and features Ben guesting on guitars and backing vocals (it is the first time the two have played together on a recording for over ten years) with the drums, programming and mix coming courtesy of Tracey's current production collaborator Ewan Pearson (producer of both Tracey's recent acclaimed album 'Love And Its Opposite' and 2007's 'Out Of The Woods'). As Tracey re-articulates Romy's lyrics, Ben fluidly arpeggiates the original interwoven guitar lines into one seamless pass, while Ewan adds crisp fresh half-tempo drums, atmospheric misty synths and booming bass.

I like them. A lot. Basic space is one of my favourite songs, and i love the diverse remixes that were made out of it.
You've got the love and Teardrops are marvelous covers.
Check out Jamie Xx's album, it's impressive as well.
