Here's the video to Mariah Carey's great new single #Beautiful ft. Miguel
I guess Mariah really wants us to know she's in shape o.o
The video isn't awful but not great either (in my opinion). I still like this song though. Miguel looks cute in that video. I wish he'd lose the shades though.
Mariah, now that Whitney is dead, you have the opportunity to be The Diva. What the fuck is wrong with you, girl?
MC replaced WH as "The Diva" years ago. She in turn was replaced by Beyonce. WH and has been dead since last century.
AI has never/will ever produce a singer as big as MC. Considering she received 5 minutes and 12 seconds of screen time on one of America's highest show I don't think that was "rushed".
Mariah Carey Performs Live! on AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 12
^pre-taped, pre-recorded vocals =/= live.
k thx.
^needs to stop wearing dresses 3 sizes too small. Same problem heading to Christina Aguilera soon (though she's been dressing quite nicely as of late).
I didn't catch MC on GMA but watched some of the "highlights" and thought it was hilarious. I would watch a reality show starring her any day. I loved that she sang "Always Be My Baby" that's one of my top favorite songs from her.
I still play E=MC2 and a few tracks off Memoirs. I didn't care for these last 2 releases. I thought this was her big comeback but you can't comeback if you bringing other muthafuckas with you, not disrespect to the guest, their fine in their own way, but MC needs to this alone and with better material and bitch put some clothes on!! You don't have to show your body, you have the voice, you are trying hard but you can't compete with Bey and you won't win and you shouldn't try to, you have nothing to prove. There is room for everybody, call up buck teeth JD and get back in the studio.
All I want, ain't no other, we together, I'll remember, sweet love, all night long - All Night / Beyonce.
Been getting into Mariah again lately. I only have her 'The Ballads' album besides a few random song DLs. I need to get more from her. I remember TEOM fondly (haven't heard it entirely for years, still remember each song
), but besides that she was hit-and-miss after the 90s for me.
I also think if you look at the two singers at her best, Mariah > Whitney. In my humblest of opinions, the only thing Whitney did better was power. Mariah I feel had more subtlety and more sides to her voice. And that's not even thinking of whistle register
.

The last I heard Beautiful was #20 on the Hot 100. What's it's position this week?
It's up to #17 this week, if it manages to hang around the teens-twenties, it will probably shoot into the top 10 or very close to it when the parent album is released.
I hope she leaves all the rappers on the remix and stop with all the whispery singing. I'm gonna have to hear a few snippets before I plunk down my money.
All I want, ain't no other, we together, I'll remember, sweet love, all night long - All Night / Beyonce.
I have been a huge Mariah fan since 1990, when I first heard "Vision of Love". I can't recall anyone that has had a bigger transformation through the years than Mariah. I have all of her music but I'm especially partial to her '90 - '94 songs. She was awesome during that time frame. In '95, she came out with "Fantasy", which shifted her whole image. She started wearing less and less and by the end of the '90s, it was no longer wholesome Mariah Carey who could out sing all of her contemporaries. It was Mariah Carey, the image.
Don't mistake my critique of her as from someone who doesn't like her. I do like her and probably always will but I so miss vintage Mariah. I liked when it was about Mariah's voice and those awesome songs she wrote. Now, it's all about this ridiculous shallow image she portrays. Can't stand her overuse of the words, "festive" and "dahling". And at 43, I would like her to grow up a bit and quit having to dress so slutty. I know they'll be those of you who disagree with me but I fell in love with the original Mariah and that's the one I'll always be most fond of, not the caricature she has become.
Here's my bottom line opinion about Mariah. I think she's one amazingly talented woman. Her voice used to be untouchable. It has waned and weakened through the years but is still amply sufficient to extend her career as a singer. She still owns the whistle register. I think her talent is not just in her singing ability but I think she's immensely talented in music period, and has a phenomenal ear for songwriting and music production. I think all of her quirky ways and projection of the ridiculous image she lives are rooted in insecurity. I think inside she still feels very unsure of herself and is trying way too hard to get people to like her. She's afraid of being imperfect instead of owning her imperfections and accepting that they make her human.
I do love her though and will be buying her new CD in July. I'm always impressed with her musical capabilities. I really wish she were comfortable in her own skin though. Didn't intend for this to be so long. Sorry if I over analysed her. I am a fan and I'm rooting for her continued success. I would love to see her beat the Beatles' record for #1s.
I really wish Miguel was the one half naked on a motorbike and dancing in front of a car in the video![]()
#Beautiful is so amazing!! She sounds like a song bird!
One of the best singles of 2013![]()
i really hope that mariah covers a whitney song in her new record.
BTW if Fantasy was in the poll I'd have voted that.
She's announced on her Twitter that her album has been delayed indefinitely. Guess we can wait for the new release date to pop up sometime in the future.
Well, I was thinking about posting something about certain somebody lip-syncing at the BET Awards... but I won't.![]()

Try some of the celebrity gossip blogs. I bet you'll find clips there.
I might convert the footage from DVR, but that's probably not necessary. I mean, you've seen her lip sync before.![]()
Was hoping Mariah would walk the talk when she trumpeted that she was going for a sound that she wanted and didnt care much for hits. But after the fiasco that was M.I.A. album, Triumphant the single and the much hyped and much hoped to be a no #1 hit, #beautiful fizzled, it seems Mimi is "cheating" by trying out singles, seeing what formula works and then churns out the album but if it doesnt as such case, then she retreats.
Was really hoping she was going all artistically daring this time but it seems its all talk and she really is desperately hungry for a out and out hit. Sad.
Why does she always put her finger to ears and pretend to be concentrating when she's so obviously lip syncing? Looks so embarrassing IMO.

so did art of letting go ever charted in the US? or was it sadly a flop?
Well sadly, it appears as though Mariah's latest song has turned out to be another sales flop. I actually really like the song too. I downloaded, "You're Mine (Eternal)", and have been playing the hell out of it. I could see where, "Triumphant" and "The Art of Letting Go", wouldn't generate mass appeal but "You're Mine" is an amazing song. I love the last 30 seconds of it. And the remix with Trey Songz is awesome.......maybe even better than the original version. Check it out if you haven't heard it. Listen to it 2 or 3 times and you might find yourself hooked like I am.
Have you heard about the title of Mariah's 14th record? Me. I am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse.
Oh my LOLZ. Someone isnt taking her meds again.
Sounds like Mariah is being Mariah, full of Mariah on planet Mariah, where Mariah is queen, goddess and apparently chanteuse.
"There’s death on the horizon,
and I’ll run to behold your sacrifice..."
Throwback.
Listening to this at least the tone of her voice isn't different these days - just the belting range has shrunk.
Eh, what? Not in the belting part of her voice. Her range I guess is technically the same since she can still do the whistles...but belting her songs in a strain for her these days.
I actually think she should get the nodules repaired. She may lose the whistles...but IMO they're not worth holding onto if she's starting to lose the rest of her voice (which she sadly seems to be). The whistles are a great feature of her voice, but I'd rather lose those than the belting range which IMO is much more important to the vast majority of her songs.
I'm sure she'd rather die than leave her vocal future in the hands of doctors, but if she doesn't do something she's gonna lose her voice anyway. She struggles to sing even "Hero" now.
Come to think of it even on this rather average recent "Always Be My Baby" performance, she still hit the high F5. Around 2:21.
Even so, she's not sounding as she could/should be. But oh well, that's enough complaining.
Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse. New Album 5/27
I actually love the album title, unironically. It's so cray.
"The Elusive Chanteuse". Only Mariah.
Mariah Carey is having a musical split personality - she doesnt know what to do and where to really go with her music. But it is clear as she always touts her #1 singles records, that she is desperate for another one. Her desperation for a hit record after a slew of major flops that really prevented her from coming up with a creative winner.
Her new single, thristy, just sounds so generic. its like an updated, friendlier version of the smash flop, triumphant.
It's a shame Mariah hasn't lived up to her the full potential. She needs to focus on quality and not on getting hits.
I honestly think her record is reasonably safe. Could Rihanna threaten it? Maybe, but I don't honestly think Rihanna will REACH the record. She's bound to have a commercial lull at some point.
just listened to her record and OH WOW....WHAT HAPPENED TO HER VOICE?
Her voice is scratchy, her high notes (which were clear and powerful) not sounds screechy (kinda like the end of WBT/Stay in Love/etc) and her vocal arrangements lacked the creativity/layering of old. On the George Michael remake she sounded like a bad AI singer oversinging. Compare the original with her version; or even Mary Mary's version of cant give up now vs MC's version - yikes. what happened mimi?
listening to her brand new cd me i am mariah...trying very hard to like it but...it sounds stale.
her voice is scratchy, her high notes are screechy and on the george michael classic , one more try and the mary mary's cant give up now, mariah's voice is thin, her vocal arrangement all over the place and she sounds like a bad AI contestant thats oversinging.
I used to be a devout MC "lamb". I used to rush right out and get new releases. Nosomuch anymore.
Her music does not interest me anymore.
and yet she's #1 around the country with this album![]()
i thought Coldplay was hugely #1 around the country with their album
