He's a cool guy.
He's a cool guy.
Well that shouldn't be too hard a role to play for him.
Telling it like it is.

Zach is such a cute guy. I love him, and I love him for taking on gay parts and staying true to himself. Sure, he may not be out for the public, but I mean come on.. It's not like he's hiding and bearding either. He even took his boyfriend to awards shows, he's practically out already.
Zachary Quinto is held close by his co-star Christian Borle in the first production shots released from their off-Broadway production of Angels in America.

Why do you think he is gay? I think it would be cool if he was.
I thought when I read the thread title that ZQ had come out. Ooops!
I am happy that he made this video. I think it's cool how he cares.
This video must be his way of quieting coming out... It doesnt make sense otherwise? how could he be telling kids that it is going to get better if he hasnt experienced anythign similar to it?
I guess there's degrees of closeted/outness. Out to the nation, out to the public, out to your friends and family, only out to a few people, closted.
Not everyone has to be gay or in the closet to support gays. Am just glad people like Mr. Quinto speaks out for us as do many others.
Mr Quinto may not have appeared on the cover of People magazine saying "Yup, I'm gay", but as far as I know he has never really kept it a secret, or even denied it. Besides, the entire planet doesn't have to know I am gay for me to be considered "in the closet".
At least he is doing something, unlike other Hollywood stars who really are deeply in the closet and in fake hetero relationships.
how 'bout just thanks Zach
Good for him. But I don't need his protection or support or his love. It's just nice to have.
Can we stop with the Anderson Cooper is a closet homosexual business, just because he doesn't come out on national public television does not mean he's not out. His personal life is not relevant as a reporter and would probably serve to detract from his job. If he was a politician, that would be a different story.
Marco, I would say if you choose to be in Hollywood you choose to be in the public eye. Therefore you should come out. Otherwise you send a message that being gay is something to be hidden away.
I wouldnt even go that far, I would just say that if your going to say its gets better to gay teenagers across the globe being bullied you should a either state how you know if it isnt obvious (i.e if your in the closet or if you have a relative your speaking on behalf).. I would like to thank him for promoting help lines and reaching out but you damn well shouldnt promise them it will get better without clarifying your knowledge of how you know that...
IF I promise it gets better is going to be the new slogan for this campaign I hope they pick gay people who are out to endorse either that or they explain a bit more like we are going to make sure if gets better (showing their dedication to our rights) otherwise it is confusing..
Well said, and spoken, Ellen! Here's my Beef..Anderson Cooper is a well known Homosexual, (among our CommunityHe had the chance to stand up, and publicly announce his Homosexuality, and announce his support for younger Gay people struggling with their sexuality. It would've been a powerful move if he did. We need more Ellens, Neil Patrick Harrrises, Meredith Baxter Birneys, and all the rest of the Clebrities who were courageous enough to be themselves! Come out, Come out, Wherever you are!!!

I think it's fantastic. Regardless of whether he's gay, I think it's important that everyone tells gay youth that things get better. Growing up is difficult for a lot of people, for a lot of reasons. All help is welcome.
For all sad words of tongue and pen,
The saddest are these, 'It might have been.'
For some people it's not important who tells them how life is or from what kind of experience that person speaks- for others, it is very important. For myself, this kind of message needs to come from people who have personally succeeded against the worst kind of odds regardless of not being absolutely pretty and muscled and regardless of not coming from privileged origins and not being genius; you know, just your average Joe. This is important because the average young guy or girl who finds themselves in a crisis of identity regarding their homosexuality needs to be able to normalise, not be told by the lucky few that things will get better, one day...
And the idea of an actor telling this message is just ridiculous, unless that actor is say, a well known actor who once may have played in Dr. Quinn and who now makes his very own films that show gay characters living exciting and simultaneously somehow normalised lives (even though they are all dropping like flies because of the genre). THis actor would be okay, because he actually IS the real deal! Bullshit is pointless when you're supposed to be trying to convince kids who feel emotionally wrought and suicidal. Fuck, it's not like we don't have enough people out there who actually are true success stories having fought against tremendous odds to live fulfilling lives. I thought ad people were supposed to be connected. How is it that I can name twenty people off the top of my head who would be a million times better to choose than this wet rag, and yet, this insulting and somewhat boring 'actor' is rubbing salt into the wounds?
Again, we must choose the messenger carefully: this kind of shit could in fact convince kids that we're not seriously interested in their well-being.
There isn't one messenger. There are a lot of messengers. The messenger who helps one person might not be the one who helps another.
This isn't about your political or social agenda and favoring people based on it: it's an effort to lend a little hope to kids who need it.
He stands up for us. That is what really matters
At some point, I begin to wonder a gLee video for Trevor Project, but it is really unlikely to happen.
come now, my child. if we were planning to harm you, do you think
we'd be lurking here beside the path in the darkest part of the forest?
If you want Chad Allen (not sure why you were tiptoeing around his identity) to do one of these videos, then send his people an email. I'm assuming he has an email address or is on Facebook or Twitter. Right now, he's not doing a video, so why aren't you jumping on him for NOT doing a video instead of jumping on ZQ for doing a video?
ZQ might save a life through his video, whereas Chad Allen isn't saving lives (through these kinds of videos) because he hasn't made one. I would also add ZQ has more mainstream recognition than Chad Allen. How many young people (10-20) were even watching TV when Dr. Quinn was on?
I'd also like to ask, where is the evidence for ZQ being gay? I want pictures, videos, or stories from credible sources.
I'm the type of person who feels that words are more powerful than actions. But that is just me. That being said, I think this (It Gets Better Project) is a good thing, regardless of whether its participants are gay or straight. The main point is people are being bullied (both gay and straight) and we as country need to figure out a way to stop it. Or at least acknowledge that it does happen.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
It should not be something he has to hide either.
Why is it that the only peoples race, gender or sexual orientation are never argued about are straight white men?
Why can't a gay man present the news on gay issues in a straightforward way?
If he doesn't choose to come out to the entire world, that is his choice, no one has a right to expect or demand that of him. His personal life is his personal life, he's out to the people that are his friends and his family. He's not going out of his way to hide it either. Just because he doesn't choose to take on a philanthropist role as a public figure that he's not obligated to take on in the first place, does not by any means mean he is hiding it.
My original point was that people, due to THEIR biases, would see him less as a neutral reporter. NOT, he will personally lose neutrality. Which is not, a heap of shit.
As long as there is such a thing as coming out, the big proclamation is necessary. When the day comes that we are legally equal, then the social side of coming out/not coming out will be moot. He's already out, he just hasn't made a huge big proclamation about it, and he doesn't need to.
Please do not apologize for your opinion.
