Does it bother you that so much of what’s been written about you is speculation that you’re gay?
I don’t care about that at all. I’m completely happy and fulfilled in my personal life.

I have a network and a show riding on my shoulders. I would say a big difference between my character and me is that I can be too trusting. And I’ve realized in this business, that’s not necessarily the smartest thing to be. I definitely have a thing or two to learn from the con artists.

When he was asked "But You Don't Want To Talk About It" (referring to his sexuality), his answer seems like the weirdest and bizarre response to that question.

Yes, straight guys talk about being straight; they wouldn't even think about answering it as he answered it. However, he did not lie. He chooses not to talk about his sexuality, but at the same time, he has to know his answer reveals it. Honestly, I find it refreshing that a beautiful leading man on a popular new show says he's happy in his personal life but just won't discuss his sexuality. When I was growing up, they just lied.

Would it be nice if he felt he could say, "Sure, I'm gay." Yeah, it would be nice for him to feel he could do that. Still, he's said it in about the only way he can and still feel secure in his job. He loves what he does, he knows the system he works in, and the unfortunate truth is that it would still jeopardize his job.

And look at what the interviewer states (not asks)--"But you don't want to talk about it." Even that statement is an assumption about his personal life. The statement and his response are his way of revealing his sexuality without coming out and saying it, and he knows it. And any gay person who reads his interview knows it too.

When? I've done a quick Google search, and all i've found it that he's engaged to a woman, and "enjoys" the rumors that he's gay, because he finds them entertaining.

Yeah, Matt Bomer definitely does have the "gay glow", and seems like a guy that everyone would speculate about, but would deny rumors if he wasn't ready to come out.

Seriously: At least 80% of men in the Performing Arts are gay. The hot straight men the girls get to fawn over are only about 1% of Hollywood. It's nice to see people coming out, but it doesn't really shock me anymore.

This C list actor who has way more name recognition than he probably should has a movie to promote. So, before he heads off to film his new movie with his boyfriend he wants to spend two weeks with his "girlfriend." She is a C list actress who doesn't do anything but is tired of pretending. However, she does want to star in a future movie that our actor just signed on for. It makes sense for her to be in it, but he wants his two weeks of publicity before he will agree. If he had been openly gay there is no way a lawsuit would be able to remove evidence of that. A libel suit only works against lies. A lawsuit like that couldn't legally supress anything true unless it was proven to be harmful to people in some way. When Jennifer Aniston's topless picture from the set of The Breakup was leaked online, her lawyers filed a massive cease-and-desist to get them off of the internet, but they're still out there and easy to find. A LOT of info is leaked to the internet, and it can't be completely suppressed. If Hayden were gay, everyone would have known by now.

I can't blame him for looking after his career. There is considerable evidence that coming out hurts actors of his sort, i.e., the "leading man" variety. Rupert Everett says that coming out virtually destroyed his commercial value in the industry, although I admired him so much for doing it. He has implied that, if he had it to do over again, he probably would not do it.
All that aside, Matt Bomer is so hot it is fucking ridiculous.

I wouldn't get "on his ass", if you'll excuse the expression, for not coming out officially. He is not a a hypocrit or bad guy for not coming out because he has never attacked gay people or made anti-gay remarks. His answer seems to STRONGLY suggest that the decision to not officially come out is the result of CONSIDERABLE pressure from the network to keep his mouth shut about this. The suits at the network and others behind the scenes are the ones to be mad at, not our cute, sexy Matty. It's really not fair to put the full weight of the network and the T.V. show on his shoulders. They should just let the guy come out if that is what he wants to do.

The man is not denying he is gay. He does not have to be a poster child for gay rights. He's barely making his way into getting a serious acting gig now, barely one season in to a brand new show. He's at least given enough insight to himself to let people who know what to look for to realize there's something there. And he's also answered in such a way to suggest that he's been hurt before by letting his guard down about such things.

Stop looking to an up and coming actor to be a role model, and look instead to those who are already established in some way and who are already out. Or better yet, look to people who aren't tied to an industry of appearances and illusions to find someone more substantial to lead the cause.

Or, if you don't already, lead it yourself. That's the best way to make sure others are getting the kind of role model you expect.
