I would sincerely like to suggest that posters stay "On Topic" and address their attention to the postulation that the said dreaded terrorist organisation does not in fact exist.

So, I will stay on topic and say that it both exists and does not exist, depending on what day it is in holland's week, and that the big tall bearded man with the dialysis machine strapped to his back is still wandering the streets of Manhattan pushing a shopping trolley and masquerading as a bag lady.

Well, I've heard a few times (in Quebec only mind you) that Al-Qaeda would be more of a philosophy of life' than an actual organisation. In other terms, it is much more dangerous than a simple terrorist organisation. It's like a religion (or so said a political analyst Houchang Hassan-Yari).
