I haven't got my hands on Uncanny X-men #1 yet but god Wolverine and the X-Men was terrible. The Artwork was painful and hard to distinguish who was who. It was so rough and edgy that i thought the artist had some writing problem. I'm kinda outraged with what has happened to the X-Mansion. Why in God's name is it a freaking circus? It looks like a spaceship with its very own ice room! Kitty looks Asian for some reason. What the hell possesed them into thinking the danger room could be rebuilt after what happened the last time? Is anyone else hating the comic? Overall i thought it was a book wt=ritten for children by children
To be completely honest... I hope it fails. I really do. Not just sales wise but philosophy wise as well.
1) The kids being kids angle didn't work for the Original 5, or the New Mutants, or Gen X, or the Young X-Men... why would it work now?
2) What's is going to happen when Beast finds out that the great new headmaster of the Jean Grey School for whiney pussies who run away from their problems is still running X-Force secretly? Is he going to go back and apologize to Scott for being a dick? Is he going to go running back to the Avengers? Or will he just cave and accept that "oh it's just that crazy Wolverine up to his old shenanigans again. LOL"
3) And let's talk about the great headmaster. I'm on so many different teams how am I ever going to find time to help mold the children of the future, especially when it was my job on Utopia and I am the one who dropped the ball and failed Edie in the first place because I needed a brewski instead of watching out for the kids.
a) I am also a giant hypocrite considering I taught Kitty, Jubilee, and Rogue how to be stone cold killers and fighters but the poor little African girl doesn't deserve to go down that road.
Ugh I am so pissed at Marvel for doing this... the worst of it is that they seem to be deliberately setting Wolverine up for success what with him having the majority of X-men while Scott is stuck with a bunch of reformed villains. I know most fanboys hate Scott but the truth is Cyclops is right, Wolverine is wrong.
I will say this though, after reading some spoilers I am glad to see them bringing Lifeguard back as one of the "street team" members with Dazzler in SF.
All we want is a headrush, all we want is to get out of our skins for a while.
And I'll say it right here and right now.
The first time any super-villain, whether its a super sentinel or Batroc the Leper, shows up on the door step of the school. Logan will have failed. As soon as the kids have to take up arms in order to defend the school his whole philosophy is out the window. Gone. Kaput.
All we want is a headrush, all we want is to get out of our skins for a while.
any thoughts on Bunker - the DCnU's flamboyantly gay Teen Titan?
I think his characterization is going to remain filed under "needs work" for now. He sounds like Zorro the Gay Blade. We've only seen his first appearance so I'm reserving final judgement until we get to know him better.
Finally getting caught up on the X-books. Seems a bit hypocritical that Hank is upset about X-Force still in action. He blew up at Scott and left Uptopia because it was formed, yet he's still staying at the school with Logan, now that Logan is still running X-Force.
Not sure where they're going with the Angel thing now that he's pretty much been erased. Personally, I think there would be more of a story if Warren had to come to grips with what he did as Archangel.
Let's revive this thread. What's everyone reading?
Very little I'm afraid. I've cut way back to just The Dark Tower, Wonder Woman and Batwoman. Since Disney bought Marvel the entire medium seems a bit weak unfortunately.
Green Arrow movie cast Oliver Queen, Stephen Amell from Vampire diaries .

^TV show, not movie. The guy is hot.
Favorite Character; Jean Grey a.k.a. White Phoenix Of The Crown!
I bought an Alpha Flight graphic novel over the weekend. Apparently it's part of some bigger Marvel story arc about fear or whatever.
I loved how stereotypically Canadian the team is. I liked the story, the art, the characters. I am looking forward to the next volume.
jean is my main gave ... I'm hoping she comes back after Avengers vs X-men. I'm so hyped. Anyone catching the midnight showing?
Sounds like the Phoenix is after Hope. I'm not looking to see Jean, but will pleasantly surprised if we do.
Totally agree!!!!!!!
God been so long since I was here. Loving AVX so far let's hope it doesn't disappoint like Fear itself. Anyway still reading most X books although I should really drop some. Loving X Factor and W&XM although someone please kill Ide. Enjoying Angel and Faith and Buffy also Green Lanterns, Red Lanterns and Green Lanterns New Guardians. Picked up astonishing have to say this new team may bring it back close to what it once was.
Cannot wait until The Avengers comes out this coming Thursday!!!!!!!!

Loki,
I use Midtown Comics. You can either subscribe so they'll send you the new issues of your chosen titles, or you can pick and choose. You can also choose whether you want them sent as soon as they come out or once a month. I choose once a month to save on shipping. If your order is over $75, shipping is free.
Irish,
I am loving AVX too! The newest Wolverine and the X-Men was pretty good although I think the art is terrible. I'm looking forward to daddy Gladiator showing up at the school!
I picked up the new Astonishing X-Men yesterday in which Northstar has a pretty big role, but everyone keeps calling him Jean Claude. Did I miss something? His name is Jean Paul. What gives?
Cover of Astonishing X-Men 51.

I kind of have to agree. The Shatterstar/Rictor romance has more nuance whereas I reckon Kyle was brought into existence just for this sort of attention grabbing sort of thing.
What gets me is Kyle is always refered to as his long time partner yet he didn't appear until post Uncanny issue 500. As far as I know you never got wind that Northstar was seeing anyone long term. At least with Rictor and Star their relationship started in the 90s.
In comic news, DC's original Green Lantern is now gay due to the reboot of EARTH 2. In addition to being young again, now, he has a handsome boyfriend.
There's a preview of the new EARTH 2 here.

It's a good time for gays in comics right now. Northstar marries his bf, Alan Scott goes gay... It's nice to see gay male characters breaking through.
Th gay comic book characters just brings up a sense of irrelevance in the stories, love in general with the comic books just seems so unnecessary.
I think we'll be pushing our luck though soon if the big two comics companies keep having major gay storylines. I'm gay and even I'm getting sick of it. I mean, no-one makes a big deal about interracial relationships anymore.
Yes but it could easily go the other way. Suddenly when evil people start saying gay people want to turn the whole world gay, there's evidence to back it up. At least for the very silly it is.
I would actually have rathered an entirely new gay character who becomes a Green Lantern. I think DC has mismanaged this.
The DC thing was a joke. "GREEN LANTERN IS GAY!!!!!!"
...except it's not Hal...
...and it's not in the prime universe...
...and therefore nobody cares.
Personally, I'm happy about the Northstar wedding. They made an event of it, and people will notice. I am also really happy about the Wiccan/Hulkling line.

I care that GL is gay. I have read the first two issues of Earth 2 and I really like it so far. Can't wait for more!
I meant that it was cheating - they advertised a "major character" and this is an alternate version of a minor character from decades ago who just happens to share a title with an actual major character.

I don't know, I've been a pretty avid fan of Justice Society for a while now so for me, the perspective has been that Alan Scott is a major character. I understand he isn't a member of the JLA, so he doesn't carry the extra-media star power that Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman carries....
And hopefully they make him a bigger character. If Earth 2 really takes off then he will be a bigger character by default. I really like it. I have my fingers crossed for a DC Animated feature down the road.
Astonishing X-men #51 is out! From my blog:
Astonishing X-men #51 is out today, with Northstar and Kyle's wedding as the main event. While coming in the middle of a storyarc that has nothing to do with it, the issue is almost exclusively dedicated to the wedding, yet it still feels a bit short and glossing over the controversy that people expected from it. There isn't much "choosing sides" here, not much conservative drama, and I actually like that. The wedding feels much more real with the main problems being the grooms being nervous about it.
The art does the event enough justice, even though Mike Perkins isn't going to be a favorite of mine any time soon. The real gem here is Marco Djurdjevic's variant cover (posted above) which blows me away. The digital image doesn't do it justice - in real life the coloring is perfect and the artwork is just breathtaking.
All in all, Marvel's first gay wedding passes with flying colors. Can't wait to see what half-baked sensationalist rip-off DC will come up with...

Yay!!!!!!!! Off to the comic book store![]()
Love love love love it!
What's everyone been reading? Thoughts on Avengers vs. X-Men?
I love Jean!
I like AVX but seriously too Avengers biased, yes I know the Phoenix Force took other hosts but it was Stark's flipping doing. I honestly think Cyclops is being honest, he's pigheadedness isn't allowing him to see what's happening. But seriously time for team Cyclops to get a bit of love and the Avengers some hate, the last time I saw any hate was in Legacy when they arrived at the school.

Just joined this site, and found this thread! I've been collecting comics for 20 years.
Pull List:
DC: Swamp Thing, Animal Man, JLD, Dial H for Hero, Green Arrow, Catwoman, Batman, Fables
Marvel: X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine & The X-Men, Hawkeye, Ultimate X-Men, Journey into Mystery
Image: Glory
Dark Horse: The Massive, Ghost
Favorite Author(s): Alan Moore, Brian Woods, & Joe Casey
I am really enjoying the AvsX, and am actually xcited to see where it all ends up - who is it that dies? My guess is going to be Xavier. It plays into what Marvel has planned for NOW and it seems like the only end result for his character's arc: eventually the teacher must step aside, and Xavier would never do that unless his character was completely taken off the board.
One thing I like about AVX is that it is still showing the split in the X Camp, we see Storm doing what she was meant to do by staying with Cyclops in Utopia, pulling him back when needed.

There isn't a new volume. It was supposed to be an 8 issue miniseries, then the first couple of issues sold so well that Marvel said it was going to be an ongoing series. Then they backed off that and canceled it after the original 8 issues.
I've been enjoying the miniseries so far.
Apparently Havok is going to be leading the Uncanny Avengers. Does this mean Cap and Iron Man are going to be taking orders from Alex?
Well he'll be team leader of that mixed team and if they are memebers then I suppose yes.

I don't know of software that tells you this weeks releases - although there are websites that list them.
If you are looking to catalog your collection check out http://www.collectorz.com/comic/
I don't use the comic software as my collection is mostly boxed up waiting the day I have time to deal with it - but their software for CD's / DVD's and Books works great.
Yeah, I can second the recommendation for the team at collectorz.com. A nice product. Like you, I too use their book cataloging software regularly - great for managing my collection, I like the way you can add an item just based on UPC/barcode entering - and in the past, the music cataloging software.
Finally caught up on Avengers vs X-Men. Wow. Cyclopes arrested--and happy that the no more mutants curse has been broken. The other four former Phoenixes in hiding. Xaiver dead. Where do we go from here? I really enjoyed this story and look forward to what comes next.
So the next X-Men movie is going to be based on the Days Of The Future Past story. I'm a huge Rogue fan, do you think they'll bring her back to the big screen? And if that's the case, would Anna Paquin return? I wouldn't be opposed to recasting her, I think she doesn't look the part at all...but knowing Bryan Singer he won't, he'll probably use her if she's available.
Just wanted to say this. I do not know if you have read let alone heard of this comic. However I ask of you guys please give the comic X-Treme X-Men a shot or a look at least. I cannot guarantee you it will be your cup of tea, but I personally enjoy it. I only say this because sells are low and I would hate to see such a unique comic go away.
Eternal youth and endless life. I'll sacrifice everything and everyone to obtain it
I did give X-Treme X-Men a shot, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think there are just too many X-books right now for me to keep track of everything and the multiple universes/Xaivers was just adding to confusion. With that being said, here are my current thoughts on the rest of the books:
All-New X-Men--so far, I'm loving it. I have to admit that when I heard they were bringing the original X-Men from the past, I was skeptical, but I'm interested to see where they're going with it. I'm also enjoying Cyclopes and Magneto and their little band of outlaws.
X-Men--the last two issues focused solely on Domino and Daredevil. I'm not a huge fan of either, so I'm hoping next month will be better.
Astonishing X-Men--Still loving the relationship between Northstar and Kyle and the last couple of issues have really added to Warbird's character.
X-Men Legacy--This book has been a total cluster since the reboot. I'm not sure even Legion can understand what is going on in his head. I'm hoping this book takes a different turn and is not just all about Legion.
Uncanny X-Force--The book had a decent run. Now I'm interested to see the next series. I'm also excited to see a Marvel book that doesn't include Wolverine for a change. Seriously, the guy is in everything. He's not THAT great.
X-Factor--bit of a different book and seems they stretch the storylines out quite often, but I'll keep reading.
