RB is DRM free according to their FAQ: Will I have access to videos after my membership is over? After 60 consecutive days of membership, any videos you download or view are yours to keep for life. Keep in mind that previously downloaded movies before the 60 period, need to be watched again while your membership is active in order to get unlocked for you to own.

As of 3/20/09 there is enough free downloadable or streaming content such that you really don't have to purchase any extra vids. They put up entire scenes of new movies which can be viewed for up to 90 days depending on your membership.
