Wanda Sykes thinks gay oppression trumps black

On the CNN show “Piers Morgan Tonight.” , Wanda says “I don’t know of organizations and groups like Focus on the Family and such anti-gay organizations who are putting so much money, millions and millions of dollars, into stopping me from being black or telling me that I can’t exercise my blackness. There’s no equality for LGBT people.”

As a black man, I have to agree with her. Many gay men and women aren’t comfortable revealing themselves as gay to the general public. Unlike being black where the obvious doesn’t need introduction, being gay is something that in many cases can be, and is, hidden or kept hush hush from fear of disapproval.
