fortune cookie
I went to lunch today with my best-girlfriend. We ate at the local chinese buffet. My fortune cookie read:
Respond intelligently even to unintelligent treatment.
I thought about JUB when I read it.
Have you ever found a fortune that really meant something to you at the time? or maybe even a horoscope reading?

Re: fortune cookie
For some reason it has become a tradition with me and some of my friends that when we go eat Oriental food and get a fortune cookie we always stick the fortune in our hat bands for good luck.

They say my daddy was a pistol, and that makes me a son of a gun.

Re: fortune cookie
There's one on my desk right now, set up where I can see it:
"Depart not from the path which fate has you assigned."
That came on the day I was wondering whether or not to depart the path which fate had me asigned. So I didn't.

Re: fortune cookie
Once, many, many moons ago, I took my grandmother & my stepmother out for dinner at the restaurant which was attached to the Falling Waters Lodge in Leland, MI. The building, like much of what passes for modern architecture, was really quite repulsive, in its own quaint way. The only thing it really had going for it was that you could eat your dinner looking out the large plate glass windows the restaurant was sited over. But I digress ... as is my wont...
I really remember nothing about the meal, other than the fact that I spent most of it making heavy eye contact with this gorgeous young man who was dining across the room, in amongst a rather larger grouping of people; his own family, I presume.
At the end of our meal, they brought us Fortune Cookies. Why, I have no idea ... neither the restaurant, the food, nor we ourselves were Chinese by any stretch of the imagination, nor can I think of any possible connexion to the ersatz holiday we were celebrating.
In any case, I opened mine, and immediately burst out laughing, having read: Your Proposition Will Be Accepted.

Never wear your best pants when you go to fight for freedom.
You will receive a fortune cookie.
Help! I am being held prisoner in a Chinese bakery.
There is no mistake so great as that of being always right.
THAT WASN’T CHICKEN.
Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.
Give a man religion, and he'll starve praying for a fish.

Re: fortune cookie
My Cousin and I, who is like my little brother, went for Chinese food back in July. We opened our fortune cookies and we both had the same one that read,
"There is a true and sincere friendship between you both"
We thought that was great and we both carry our little fortune reading in our wallets now. He is away right now and whenever I see it in my wallet, it makes me smile.
