That last line sounds almost ominous.....

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

    Neil,
That was a GREAT weekend treat and reconnect time.

Kuli - given how I wind up falling asleep at the PC many a night, I didn't find it ominous at all, lol.

Totally relaxing and fulfilling - contentment in the joy and love of your child.

    Thanks, so much, Neil.

OMG, how wonderful is this - Neil is back!!!!!!! I'm so glad I kept my promise and I didn't give up on Brad or you - I kept reading the existing chapters of Brad over and over until you were able to return to the story. I was currently on read number 12. Thanks for keeping the faith with both your loyal readers and to Brad who in the annals of fictional literature is a giant among men.

Don got it right. There was more I might have posted had I finished chapter where I wanted to finish it, but, talking to Don last night, I mentioned that there was a logical chapter end. I could cut it there and use the 'cut' portion as the beginning of the next chapter. Don's chit-chat encouraged me to post what I had, but the 'cut' portion explained why Ted didn't remember anything after thinking about Brad. He simply fell asleep.

However, as written, it didn't end properly, so I added four little words:

Not long after that, she was asleep. I stayed where I was, thinking that I would hold her just a little while longer. I remember thinking that I should call Brad before I fell asleep and tell him that I miss him.

I don’t remember anything after that.
Perhaps I should have added a few more.

By the way, here's the Aussie Jingle Bells song that I lo... er, that LINDSAY loved so much:

    Neil,
I saw this picture with the heading:

"My friend Brad lost his toe in a lawn mower accident - I made the best of his situation"

Since our Brad is in landscaping and such, he immediately came to mind.
And, after freaking out, I can see Ted doing something like this.
The boys would get a big kick out of it - and it would go a long way toward healing everyone.

And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .

    Re: Watching Brad

"Brad was silent for a long half-minute or so, looking at an invisible spot somewhere in the neighbourhood of our belly buttons, before nodding once. And then he asked, “If you walked in on him jerking off now and he asked you to help him out, would you?”

I suddenly felt defeated, crestfallen. “Please don’t make me answer that, Brad. It’s you I love. Not David. Not Barry. Only you.”

Brad’s face relaxed and he smiled at me. “I love you, too, Pops,” he said with just the right amount of emotion in his voice. We leaned forward at the same time, tilting our heads in opposite directions and allowing our lips to connect in a long, tender kiss.

We turned out the lights then and snuggled together beneath the warm blankets and comforter. From the other end of the camper came the soft, distant snores of our sons. Outside, the wind whistled through the power lines and hummed through the nearly naked branches of the trees. Leaves swirled around the Winnebago as it gently rocked ever-so-slightly in the wind. I knew there wouldn’t be many leaves left on the trees by morning.

“Pops?” Brad said in a voice that only I was meant to hear.

“Yeah?” I said just as secretly.

“If I walked in on Nathan and he asked me. . . I think I might have a really hard time saying ‘no’, too.”

There are many times that I’ve felt that I didn’t deserve the love of this young man. That was one of those times."

hi neil, im hoping your doing fine and currently im on part 220 p64 and nearer to the last page soon. the above paragraph quite alarming to me ... well, honestly i keep reading this story hoping that brad and ted would love each other no matter how tempting the other guys to their lives and i am hoping both would confine their lust within themselves and nobody will come in between them no matter how hot the other characters. this part of their story would in anyway kinda gives us a hint that someday as the story unfolds would happen that brad and ted would DO with the other character soon and i just wish and really hoping it wont going to happen soon but since your the author and writer of this story... damn if its going to happen but would it be in a case does it happen that its only a fantasy dream and nothing real existence? damn i do love both of them and frankly i love their love team and please continue this story and never to end it. i just love your works and it does open my mind on how to deal with this kind of situation in real life. wish you good health and im glad that some one like you write this very lovely story. take care and God bless. More power.

    SBLove,

If you've read all the chapters and comments, you know Neil has a degenerative condition that has made his writing efforts more difficult. He' still working on his writing, as pain allows.

He's bee somewhat preoccupied the last couple of weeks. He had a bit of a spill on his way back from the store and, well.
he can tell it best - Here:

"Ted is not afraid of this," she said, indicating Brad and I cuddling together on the sofa." ---Neil, you often confuse the object pronoun "me" and the subject pronoun "I". I have noticed it before but have not commented. The writing is so good, I want it to be perfect. The above quote should be "indicating Brad and me cuddling together on the sofa."

It is me again, the Grammar Queen. "Justin made several attempts, with both Brad and I ready to get him out of trouble if he should get into it, but all his attempts failed." Part LXIII. should be………"with Brad and me"

  25. #3325

    Re: Watching Brad

Part LXVII -"Barry broke away from Nathan, pulled both Brad and I to our feet, and hugged us in his muscular arms, giving each of us a kiss on the cheek."

Grammar Queen here. should be "pulled both Brad and me to our feet,"

^ In order for me to write a perfect story, I, too, would have to be perfect.

    I am not.

Believe me when I tell you that there are many other 'errors' in the story besides the 'I/me' confusion. The story is far from perfect, as am I.

    Neil,

I just want to say thank you for the wonderful story. I wouldn't pay any attention to the poster above, regarding "grammar". Some people get a kick out out of pointing out others errors. It's a shame that your latest post had to be a response to such pettiness. I discovered this story, about 7 years ago. I've been in love with it ever since. I don't come here to give you a grade in English, I came because your story gives me hope that true love is out there still. Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to your next installment.

    Regards,

    Grant

It's so heartening to see your recent post Neil. We've been told how much you've been going through and its sad for us fans because you've given us so much enjoyment and we have no way to repay you. Like possum, I'm a fairly recent fan - maybe two years. I'm probably currently on my 10+ read. I even have complete chapter notes as to what is covered in each. My wife says I obsess - she's right. I want to throttle Ted and kiss Brad's ass. So, just want to add my voice to all your fans and thank you for your wonderful contribution to literature.

    Grant,

You say pointing out grammar mistakes is pettiness? I think not. Neil is a great writer. I am offering him some help. If you think this is being petty, I apologize to you. You tell Neil not to pay attention to my posts. I am sorry you feel that way. People all over the States and Canada are making this mistake. I don't want to see it become an accepted part of our language. I understand language is ever evolving and I am doing my best to help it evolve without too many glaring mistakes.

    All the best to you,
    Slaght

I know the rules. I know the difference between 'your' and 'you're' or 'then' and 'than'. I even know when to use 'who' and when to use 'whom'. However, in the heat of impassioned writing, mistakes sneak through. It is one thing to criticise the story. It is another to criticise the grammar, especially when one's own grammar is questionable.

    Hi, slaght.

Welcome to JUB! Great to have You aboard!

However, Buddy ... I know how much work has gone into Neil's stories, and even the proof reading done by another JUBber. And, though You are Right, as Neil has pointed out, in the "heat of the moment", there are some MINOR things that can slip through.

Some might seem that pointing those little bits out could be considered "nit picking".

Is grammar Important? Yes, it is!

Butt (And, yes, I wrote it that way on purpose ), there can also be such a thing as "splitting hairs", and not seeing the Forest for the Trees!

I hope You can understand that You're pointing those "niggley" bits out, though commendable, can also be taken as Excessive, and overly "persnickety".

All I'm trying to say is, though You're motives are certainly Positive, and as well meant as You're intentions may be, given the overall writing that You're criticizing, the advice You're offering may not be all that appreciated.

That doesn't mean "We" don't like YOU, though!

Just more reasons to ... No Matter What ...

    Keep Smiln'!!

    Re: Watching Brad

I've been a reader of this story since early on and I've been a writer even longer. I find it rude to criticize the grammar in any part of the story. First and foremost, this is told from Ted's point of view and Ted just happens to use "I" when he should use "me". He's a human being (albeit fictional) and, as human beings, we are prone to make simple mistakes when speaking. Just be glad he says, "Brad and I" and not "Me and Brad". I'm thinking that if that were the case, your head would explode.

To put it as simply as I can, however, I would just close with, "Just enjoy the story, grammar errors and all, and GET OVER YOUR CHEAP SELF. MY characters don't always use proper grammar and neither do I.
