This is correct. From last year. Not sure why she was pretending she just took it last night. And why Anderson tweeted a reply that he would get even with her when the he knows everyone already seen it. I guess more publicity for the both of them.

They're joking around. They both have senses of humor. I don't see why that's so hard to understand.

A guy like Anderson Cooper doesn't say he'll get even with someone on Twitter unless he means it in a lighthearted way. He'll "get even" with her in a way that makes them both laugh, just as they both laughed at this one.

Another Talk Show bites the Dust...Love'ya Ricki but your time in Daytime has passed...Your Loyal Teen & Young Adult base from the 90's grew up and a lot of us arent watching Daytime Talk shows anymore...

Ricki Lake confirms cancellation of daytime talk show

    ·
    · February 4, 2013

    · By: Njai Joszor

Ricki Lake is bidding farewell to daytime television again. Confirming the news Monday, Lake and Twentieth Television say "The Ricki Lake Show" will cease production on March 28.

"I am so proud of the shows we completed this season, sparking important conversations about everything from raising children to mental illness to suicide prevention to coming out," Lake confirmed via B&C Monday. "I will continue to be an active and passionate voice for subjects that are close to my heart through a variety of platforms."

"The Ricki Lake Show" was one of several new daytime talk shows that premiered in the Fall. The all-new show featured Lake interviewing a number of guests, including celebrity talent like Tamar Braxton ("Braxton Family Values").

Lake's cancellation follows that of "Anderson Live," Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show, which aired for two seasons and will come to a close this Spring also.

While "The Ricki Lake Show" premiered with much fanfare, considering her success in the 1990s, the daytime talk show's ratings dropped by at least 30 percent.

"The Ricki Lake Show" will continue to air, with new episodes and repeats, through September.

Anderson Cooper: ‘Being gay is a blessing’ and I ‘couldn’t be more proud’ of my sexuality

    http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2013/03/12...-my-sexuality/

Interesting article. Here is a particular highlight:

Saying he “couldn’t be more proud” of his sexuality and that “being gay is a blessing”, he said that there came a point when he thought he was giving a negative impression of his views on his own sexuality by not coming out. He said he didn’t want his personal life to overshadow his career in the public realm.

He said: “At a certain point I realized that by not saying something I was sending a message, or maybe giving some people the mistaken impression that I was uncomfortable or there was something that I was ashamed about. … It saddens me to think that I did give that impression because I think being gay is a blessing and it’s something I am thankful for every single day and have been for my entire adult life. So, you know, I couldn’t be more proud of being gay.”
I always felt as though he never owed anyone anything and that him not talking about gay didn't automatically make him ashamed. Plenty disagreed.

We'll never know exactly what went on in that head of his, but it seems that he's in a good place at the moment, and a fair one to set an example for today's youth.

Of course we should all be proud to be gay. Of course it's a blessing. It's also a test of courage and integrity, and if you pass it, you end up a better man than you could ever have been if you were born straight.

I have always believed I was lucky to be gay and that it is a blessing...not a curse. Of course...I was only in the closet for five minutes because after it occurred to me I was gay I announced it. I was never ashamed of being gay for even a second. I see it as winning the sexual identity lottery. It isn't a choice but if it was I would happily choose it.

Re: Anderson Cooper: ‘Being gay is a blessing’ and I ‘couldn’t be more proud’ of my sexuality

    What a pile of bullsh**t.

"Being gay is a blessing".........Sure, being gay is most certainly a blessing if you don't come out until you've already established a wildly successful journalistic career earning millions of dollars a year, you own a $10 million home in New York City, you have an Adonis-looking boyfriend, you're friends with celebrities & politicians, you have a handsome face & athletic body, and you have never faced a day of discrimination because of your sexual orientation in your life. Oh, an throw in being a descendant of the Vanderbilt family.

If being gay is such a blessing, why didn't Anderson Cooper come out when he was in college? Why didn't he come out when gay men were fighting for their lives when AIDS broke out? Why didn't he come out when young gay men like Matthew Shepard was murdered, or even more recently when Tyler Clementi & so many other young gay men committed suicide after being bullied? Heck maybe Anderson Cooper, whose $10 million NYC penthouse is just a couple miles away from the George Washington Bridge, could have given his "gay is a blessing" speech to Tyler Clementi, right?

Anderson Cooper never had -- nor ever will -- need to worry about being bullied or gay bashed or bullied for who he was. He never had -- nor ever will -- need to worry about being fired or discriminated against at his low-wage job because he happens to be a gay man. Anderson Cooper never had -- nor ever will -- need to experience that hardships that gay men of color face. The reality is that most young gay men coming out today, will never live anything close to the privileged life that Anderson Cooper lives.

So let's just call a spade a spade............Anderson Cooper is yet another wealthy white gay male & celebrity who waited until he was extremely successful and set in his professional career before he came out. (See also Neil Patrick Harris, Thomas Roberts, Sam Champion, et al)
I used to be like that, but not anymore. At least not on the first date. Third date, whole other story..."

I'm not going to defend what Cooper says... but for some it is. For me at least, it has built character and I have had to face difficulty... in the end it was a blessing as I am a stronger person for it. And for crying out loud... if ones own situation is so dire, make a CHANGE. Nobody is telling anyone here to make a billion dollars... but at least, be more positive. Being so negative and hateful of others isn't going to attract other people.

If being gay is such a blessing, why didn't Anderson Cooper come out when he was in college? Why didn't he come out when gay men were fighting for their lives when AIDS broke out? It was about his own personal reflection. I come from modest means and I am working class (at this point in time)... but I understand where he's coming from.

Anderson Cooper never had -- nor ever will -- need to worry about being bullied or gay bashed or bullied for who he was.
Are we sure about that? Has he ever been asked that? Even in the rich kid schools, rich kids can be bullies too. Erhm, one certain Presidential Candidate was... *cough* *cough* Romney *cough* *cough*.

Anderson Cooper never had -- nor ever will -- need to experience that hardships that gay men of color face. The reality is that most young gay men coming out today, will never live anything close to the privileged life that Anderson Cooper lives.
Okay this is interesting and perhaps a good point, but gay men of color shouldn't be voting for a political party that actively hates them for both their sexual orientation and ethnic and/or racial identity.

Also, going back to the point about those who are poor... I don't recall working class people living in rich parts of Orange County with a wealthy family. Perhaps I can have my Mexican friend to come on here and share his experiences... he's gay, working class and lives in an apartment in Inglewood with his family. He's also in the process of trying to get his papers under the deferment act. Something republicans are staunchly against.

JayQueer, nobody likes a bitter queen. I have had none of Cooper's advantages (unless you count being white), and I agree with him a 101%.

Because I understand what you obviously don't - that acceptance and strength comes from within. If you can't like yourself, nobody else has a reason to like you either.

I'm always glad I turned out gay. Sure I may not be able to express it as much as I'd like to, considering where I live and the sort of people I associate with, but still.

I started a thread about Anderson when his show was back on the air. I thought he wasnt owning being gay and its nice to see that he can laugh at himself and make comments like "I wont be seeing those any time soon" (re: boobs)

    BUT

He is too repetitive. He talks about something for more than one day. Enough already. Feet on airplane, the monkey in the coat, his paleness, his eccentricities. Oh God, I was getting tired of hearing about the same thing time and time again. Too bad about his show

Um, no they don't. As a rule, straight privilege allows straight people to never really think about their sexuality. They just are, there's nothing else to it. But the struggle to come to terms with an alternate sexuality and find oneself and one's strengths, it can build character in a way that having the default sexuality never could.

Ah yes, I forgot Anderson owes you personally... Seriously, I'd get the hate if he had been gay-bashing before coming out. But the dude was minding his own business and hurting no one. And then he did the right thing.

Well he could have said this a long time ago and helped many people.

    Not giving him any "credit"

Being born healthy or with extraordinary beauty or talent or intelligence or into a wealthy and/or loving family is a blessing.

Sexuality is a mess; straight, gay or bi. Especially bi. Bless their hearts. Must be exhausting just walking down the street. (turned on by everyone you meet)

He doesn't owe anyone anything. No one here can possibly know what he has personally faced. Because his challenges were not yours...or because you can't relate to them...does not make his personal struggles and decisions any less relevant than anyone elses.

If he had done and said things that were homophobic to hide his sexuality and subsequently damage other people then he would be worthy of my scorn.... but he has not.

That's fine. But he hasn't done anything to earn my respect either.

Let me be clear that I'm not calling him a coward because I feel he OWES me anything.

But I think people in his position should put their actions where their mouths are. He talked a big game trying to preach tolerance and telling people be yourself, you shouldn't be afraid to be who you are today, society can't run your life, it's okay to be x,y,z and so on for the longest time...when he himself was having 'issues' with being a gay man. Put up or shut up, Anderson...is my opinion on it. He kept his mouth open enough to deliver somewhat half-assed lip service towards 'gay youth'/the struggling for so long, when he was doing a piss-poor job at leading by example. He wanted to speak up, but couldn't stand up. Sure...some of you will whine...but he was out living his life...not hiding anything, etc. etc. bullshit. Dude couldn't even say the words "I'm gay" for quite some time, and dodged it like hell anytime someone even came close to questioning him directly on it. Say what you will. Shame was there. Perhaps he finally crossed that hurdle.

I don't care how many of you want to play the he doesn't owe anyone anything card. That's not the point I was trying to make. I basically have issue with him doing what I felt was (talking out of his ass) and telling people to be themselves (in so many words)...when he couldn't even be so, all the while sitting on his ass in comfort.

    Don't give me that bullshit.

Over it. LOL I just think it's funny. Like CupidBoy said...oh he got pride now huh?

No... I'm not buying the criticism. People can make mistakes and stay quiet, but we can't possibly know what this man was thinking. Like it or not, hatred and bullying happens at all income levels. And yes he could have been struggling with it internally. He doesn't owe me anything either, and certainly not an explanation as to why he didn't come out sooner. I'm just not going to be a bitter queen about it.

Well...the same could be said for everyone who was ever in the closet for that matter. Real heroes come from all places...my heroes are mostly people I have personally known. For everyone who has ever committed suicide or been bullied you can be sure there were closeted gay men around them who said and did nothing.

If we put famous people above the rest of us...that's on us...not them.

Personally I applaud the average gay person who has chosen to live their lives openly and honestly before family, friends and co-workers, knowing they may very well have to pay a price by losing some of them more than I do
some so-called celeb who lives and works in a very gay friendly world with a large family fortune for support. Perhaps if AC had felt so blessed and proud years ago, his public acknowledgement of who he was might have helped more of the average guys.

This is one of many things I can't stand about christians.

You're always walking around claiming to be "blessed or highly favored". You're some of the most selfish sons of bitches I've ever encountered. I was taught to be "proud' of the deeds and accomplishments I achieved in life (and most of those achievements came with the help of others). So Andersen, if you're "blessed" then what are the children who are bullied, beaten and killed for being gay? What about the innocent people who are robbed and murdered everyday in this fucked up world?

The next time one of you claim to be "blessed" in my presence, I will give you a hardy "FUCK YOU"
Rejoice and Behold the pungency of my nuts for I have arrived!

Then I'll respond with a middle finger.

I like to keep things simple. We really don't know what he had to go through. Oh and I was bullied and beaten up in high school... I have had a rough life... so moving right along.

I am amused a bit to find so many of the same people who are judgemental over other people's sex lives are also judgemental about Cooper...and probably so much more. Not a surprise...just amused a bit.

And one has to wonder how many of those who bullied and beat you were closet cases and self loathing homos. No matter who argues that AC was out in his "real life", he was in the closet.

Ask me first. I wasn't out and they still bullied and beat me up. I tried to put on a different face and be someone I wasn't. And half of the people on here are in the closet anyways... so I don't see why the resentment.

And I certainly won't go back in the closet, but I am not going to hate on someone else who is.

Just like I'm amused by your weak attempt at championing Anderson's new-found "pride".

You don't have to be out to be bullied for being gay. My point was that it's not unusual for closeted gays to be the bullies. It's about self-hate.
