    "Enable Private Browsing" query

I normally use Chrome as a browser and just lately, when I visit sites of a certain nature (like this one!) I sometimes get a pop-up screen headed "Enable Private Browsing." I know we can often get spam and other dodgy screens but when I told a computer engineer, he said it looked "suspicious" and that "Google will not check your browser settings and then ask you to add something to Chrome."

Has anyone else had this pop-up and if so, is it genuine or suspicious? And if it is genuine, what are the side effects if one does click "Add to Chrome," as there are sure to be some! ...

On the off chance that your computer can be accessed by family, or work colleagues privacy is always worthwhile.

No, I don't have any family or work colleagues poking around on my computer, so as I don't really care about the privacy thing anyway, I guess I can ignore the Chrome pop-up ...
