    I know about depression.

Do you have friends to talk to about it? Or even a therapist of some sort, if necessary. What about activities and hobbies and interests to take up? Or a group or a club of some sort?

But I'm well aware of becoming trapped in cycles and ruts that exacerbate the whole thing. Find someone to talk and confide in, and plan some events outside your usual routine.

    Re: Your Death

As an employee that works at a cemetery, please make sure that you pre-plan for your funeral. I had a family today who had no property and couldn't remember any family members who are laid to rest at our location. The wife died of a massive heart attack at work on Wednesday. The family didn't have a chance to say goodbye. Husband was very distraught and very emotional. As I was taking him and his daughters through the park, I heard him say, "Joanie, why did you do this"? On top of this, we have ice and snow on our property with more on the way this weekend. We hope that the family will be able to walk to the site with little or not trouble at all. Total for our services was about $12,000.

Probably not the first time. But if you make it back and die again there is a chance you might recognize it.

I do think about death, I see it as part of the cycle of life. I am 62 and have been very healthy, outside of a few minor strokes.
I must admit that I reach periods where I just don't feel like going on, I have laid in bed at night and composed a "good bye" note to leave for my family in my mind.
Then, I wake up the next day and wonder why I felt so down the night before. I have learned that the next day I feel better, remember, their is always tomorrow. A new day, a better day, look forward to tomorrow.

Yeah! I think about my death far more often than I used to, when I was "Young" and Steel Hard Invulnerable!

These days, there are more times that I contemplate hastening it, as though my smoking, and drinking, haven't already contributed to that.

My thoughts about the preparations, following my exit from this planet, are a simple cardboard box cremation, plastic bag vs. urn for my ashes, that should be used as fertilizer, or tossed into Lake Michigan.

No wasted, much more needed, money on a formal funeral.

However, if anyone would like to throw a party, my estate would gladly pay for that.

Just more reasons to ... No Matter What ...

    Keep Smilin'!!

No, I don't really think about my death. My life insurance policy is expiring, so I will have to do something about that, but I am not thinking about death. I worry about how I will pay my bills when I am eighty-five, my savings won't last that long. There are too many current things to think about.

Apart from having a fully paid up funeral plan, and the instructions for what i require. Plus not only a will, but a living will also.

I do not dwell on my death, the manner will occasionally enter my thoughts but, no. A few years ago i dwelt on my demise, luckily a friend came calling at the flat.

With my retirement only 9 months away the thought does cross my mind reasonably frequently.

I am just beginning to plan out everything I should do; the will is made but there are other tasks I should settle reasonably quickly.

It doesn't depress me and I have no fears of the end arriving, just want it all organised so that my friends don't have everything to deal with.

    ...or something like that...

I should be dead now. Four years ago I had a blood clot in/on my lung. I believe this is called a pulminary embolism (sp?) and the survival rate is very low. Some famous person recently died in their sleep with one of these. I didn't even realize I had it for four days. Then one night my heart was beating so fast and hard I couldn't sleep so I went to the ER. A catscan later and I was admitted to the ICU for four days.

    Makes ya think...

The best thing about dead is not knowing you're dead. Or knowing you were alive — non-existence, like during the ~14 billion years you were dead before you were born. Which was lucky, because living among trilobites would have been boring. Though, come to think of it, they may have been happy as clams.

Not as a trilobite: just like perfectly satisfied and normal people who do not realize how pitiful is their existence when they figure they most removed from pitifulness.

Trite truism: ot knowing anything is always good to the ignorant... but can only be acknowledged as such by those who are not so.

I think about my death more often than I should, but that's what severe depression does to you.

    Re: Your Death

So what is "death" supposed to stand for: the act, process of dying, the state of being a nothing or, alternatively, a blessed or damned soul, the whole thing altogether or what exactly? furthermore, is it all about oneself of about the time-espace-chunk of existence around oneself that is left behind in the continuum of popping and rotting?

I think about it from time to time but it's not worrying. I think it's normal for humans to ponder death.

I wonder how often people living in Gaza or Afghanistan or Iraq or Syria or Somalia or Nigeria or certain sections of certain hospitals or on death row or in the army or in the police departments think about death.

I wouldn't say that I spend my time pondering my own death.

Much more fun to speculate on the demise of others.
