Ewwwwww! John fucking Rocker? That dude is one of the biggest assholes in sports. A triple threat sexist/racist/homophobe from the early aughts. Goddamn you Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst for giving this guy a spotlight (and confirming my suspicions about the two of you). I hope he's the first one out.

Yes I was just about to post a link to all of the classy things he's said over the years. Here's a sample.

I'd be surprised if Mark Burnett has any input on this show anymore. Maybe I just want to blame Probst for everything and anything.

I think I will just scoot on by Survivor this time around after I notify CBS why I am scooting. I can't give that asswipe my time and I cannot give CBS and Survivor my time when they blatantly throw John Rockers at me. No! No! And Hell No!

Oh I'm convinced Probst is a homopobe (he may not think of himself that way and he may even be OK with gay marriage etc, but he's totally part of the "I like gay men you can't even tell are gay" tolerance crowd) but I wouldn't be surprised if Burnett is too. I mean...

Can we discuss how Reed is actually a year younger than his boyfriend despite looking 20+ years older? WTF?

Overall my feelings for this season are very tepid so far. A lot of the cast is bland and I didn't care for the Blood vs. Water twist the first time.

I didn't see the Twinnies' seasons of TAR but they seem fun in their cast video and are two of the few cast members that have potential based on the pre-show material. "If they know us from the Race, they'll know that together we're strong!" "And they'll also see that together, we're a hot mess!" <3

Can't wait for this season to start!!

    I'm considering skipping this.

Before having opened this thread, I didn't even look at any press information about the brand-new Survivor.

Also: I'm tired of rightwing stains being shoved down our throats by the broadcast networks wherever they can. (As if those Sunday-morning roundtables cannot be enough.) Survivor did this shit before, with Survivor: Philippines, with the casting of San Francisco Giants' 2002 pennant winning team member Jeff Kent. (Philippines aired in Fall 2012 and was won by one of the best players in the show's history—Denise Stapley.)

What I Like: No Redemption Island

What I REALLY Like: Exile Island (hopefully this means no more hiding idols in plain sight)

What I Don't Like: Everything else about this season.

This cast is a huge collective dud and I'm still not excited for this season. I hope they prove me wrong but I'm getting zero entertainment potential so far from the vast majority of the players.

Survivor deliberately did that with the casting of racist, rightwing, former MLB pitcher John Rocker. And those watching this new edition will find out if the series once again creates another narrative [specifically for Rocker; or anyone else], to prop him up, as it has been doing with some select male players like [Survivor: Cagayan winner Tony Vlachos].

I'm at a point, now, that if CBS were to announce Survivor will be coming to an end…I wouldn't be too upset. It might take some getting use to; but I'd manage. This show has gotten really old.

Well, they do have a gay couple in the cast so I guess they wanted to balance it out with an anti-gay dickhead. The plus side is there are no Hantz's and I'm guessing this is an all newbie cast? I haven't been a loyal follower of this series over the past few years. Like Big Brother the formula has gotten very old after seeing so many seasons. Survivor being twice a year really burned me out quicker than BB has.

I'll watch anyway because BB will be over and there's no more True Blood or Chelsea Lately or Fashion Police now.

The problem I see with the gays lovers is that they are both Christians and Broadway dancers.

I retract my vow to not watch because I don't think Rocker will last, or at least I hope he doesn't. I watched the coming attractions on TVGN and it does seem like the same old/ same old.

I'm about to watch it after watching the preview. Got some favorites already, definitely not TAR twinnies.

Rooting for Wes, Josh and Reed, Drew and Alec, Jon and some of the women.

    Hitting Play in 3, 2, 1...

Of fucking course. Todd on China was Mormon too. I swear the only gays Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst know are either 1) religious or 2) "straight-acting."

Also Jeff in the premiere telling John Rocker that men are supposed to take care of their women?

Jeff Probst SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS! is getting old.

When Jeff mentioned the gay guys worked on Broadway he then added, "in New York"
Ok. Good info, Jeff. I wouldn't want to confuse it with that other Broadway?

I must admit I'm enjoying Rocker's body in those skimpy boxers.

The dad and son from Louisiana are funny. "You're about as mentally strong as that rock"

I should probably be annoyed that Nadiya kept insisting on referring to Josh as a girl, but I can't help it. I found the Twinnies entertaining.

Though I loved this brilliant piece of editing:
Nadiya at TC: "I count Josh as like a girl!"
    (ominous music sting)
    Josh: *death glare*
    Jeff: "Let's vote!"
Josh: *throws his vote away on some random other chick*

Way to have standards guys. It's not just his past comments. John Rocker currently writes for a right wing nutso blog and frequently opposes marriage equality and other protections for gay people.

So no one can have a political point of view?

    Sick of leftwing nutjob totalitarians!

Dude, his "political point of view" includes several bigotries like outright HOMOPHOBIA. A gay or bi guy lusting after John Rocker would be like a black person lusting after a KKK member.

What was the point of that first challenge? Unless I missed something, there didn't seem to be any reward or any real motivation to win. A person from both the losing and winning teams had to go to exile. Only the winning team got to choose who went and the losers did not, but big freakin deal. Some of these twists keep getting more stupid.

Yes, but that didn't really offset the fact that both tribes suffered the same loss (sending a member to EI). Made no sense. Then Keith gets all "bondy" with Jeremy? WTF? Jeremy messed with his game AND assumed that he wasn't a threat to his marriage! Creep.

Dude, his "political point of view" includes several bigotries like outright HOMOPHOBIA. A gay or bi guy lusting after John Rocker would be like a black person lusting after a KKK member.
No, it's not. KKK members condoned violence. Speech isn't the same thing. Besides, my dick knows no politics.

I can understand separating somebody's appearance from a terrible personality but to be honest I don't find Rocker attractive at all. He's all blown up from steroids and his face is in a permanent state of derp. (I also said this about Caleb at the start of BB16 but he was better in motion than his horrible cast picture, whereas I've seen Rocker in the premiere and he didn't improve any.) Survivor has had many more attractive DILFs with questionable stances on homosexuality, even.

No, you take these morons for the EXACT words they use. These morons are usually forcing everyone else into PC, but when it comes to people whom disagree with them? They would be happy to have their words put to motion. They are Sick and deranged, but they seem like normal functioning people.

Why did survivor seem more like an underwear ad and LOL at Wes being the only one whose junk was blurred.

Here's the intro that they made for this season that probably won't air until the finale (and that's only if we're really lucky). Jeremy and Nadiya's shots are probably my favorites.

The only guys I'm even remotely interested in seeing half naked are Jon (not JOHN mind you, I'm not a self-loathing fag) and Jeremy.

Also I kind of miss seeing the intro at the start of every episode. I didn't even notice until slip brought it up but they didn't show the intro last season either did they? When did they stop showing them?
