    R.I.P. Maestro Bergonzi

    Born July 13, 1924; died July 26 2014
One of Italy’s finest tenors has died at the age of 90. Carlo Bergonzi will forever be associated with the music of Verdi, to which he brought an essentially lyric voice with the ability to push upwards (spinto).

A truly great voice has passed.

He was known for his Verdi but I prefer his Puccini.

Here Carlo is playing Puccini's Mario.

Mario is waiting for death and Puccini's writing is as natural as breathing.

His had a voice and he knew how to use it. He knew how to sing— unlike Kylie, JayLow, Beeyonce and The Forehead.

I don't think any of those ladies have ever been accused of being able to sing.

it's a distasteful subject but Puccini knew how to work the orchestra and the human voice

Grimshaw, indulging in the distasteful! How thrilling this moment must be for you, Pat!
Don't do scat, kids. It means you're a Republican.

Oh! It's the orchestra which is thrilling! But it's the silly prostitute who starts the drama who is distasteful.

Open your ears and you will hear the full soundscape above Nagasaki Harbour!
