Terry Gilliam talks Monty Python and The Zero Theorem
Terry Gilliam has had fun reuniting with his old comedy gang, but he wants to get back to filmmaking.
His latest film, The Zero Theorem, due out July 22 on DVD and VOD, is a dystopic futuristic fantasy set in computer-dominated London. It continues Gilliam’s fascination with the chaos and absurdity he observes in life. He calls it the final part of his “Orwellian Trilogy,” which began with Brazil and Twelve Monkeys.
The film stars Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton, David Thewlis, Matt Damon and Mélanie Thierry. Apart from a July 20 screening at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival, The Zero Theorem isn’t getting a theatrical release in Canada, much to Gilliam’s chagrin — which he’s also happy to get into, among other things.
