1 more reason to see the film (but I'll still wait for the reviews- if they're as bad as Phantom Menace- I'm not going!)

I'm certain they won't get it as wrong as the makers of the last three did!

No, it's not thank god. One of the biggest things they are changing which will make a difference is filming on real sets so less cgi and green screen.

I saw his pictures this morning and I share your opinion/excitement

I hope the new series will be as women-friendly (powerful women characters + male skin show) like the last three!

    I still haven't watched the 70's version!

To me Star Wars is the last three episodes and I don't think I'd be a fan if I had seen the earlier ones.

The strongest reason is the ones I stated above - very women friendly in the prequels. Not that the 70s had really gratuitous scenes - especially considering it was the 70s! - but still the heroine in (which is not famous) a bra chained to an heinous looking alien pimp is just

I hope we get to see him shirtless and not Lupita or others!

the story in the first 3 is 20x's better than the new 3- they are great films, not just great effects- original nominated for best picture oscar- 7 total noms, including Alec Guiness- sup actor.

Honestly if you've never seen the first three you must. They are in a different class to the most recently-made ones which were poorly written and acted IMHO. It looks like there will be strong women characters in the new one, I honestly think they will nail it and I can't wait.

the original trilogy was amazing! the effects for the times were really good and inventive, of course it'd look silly now, but well worth the watch, the new films are done by abrahams, (sorry for spelling), he did the new star trek films, so at least the star battles will be breathtaking, i wasn't really into the old star trek stuff, but the two new films are so good! these new films should be good, as long as they stick to the story lines of the novels and comics

Star Wars was released in '77, but The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi were released in '80 and '83

you really should watch them...much better than the prequels

"Empire", imo, was the best of the original trilogy

it was amazing seeing those movies when they first came out...nothing like them had ever been on the screen before

    the ships were fantastic

and so was the lightsaber...coolest weapon ever

Damn he's sexy. Can't wait to see him on the big screen.

Regarding Star Wars itself, I love the whole hexalogy.

I noticed he was cute too. Do you reckon we'll see some sort of male equivalent of the slave leia costume?

Maybe if I had seen the 70s version back then when those effects were brand new or even later before seeing the new films - I would like them more but I just think the universe the new film creates is much more beautiful than the 70s'.

Most of the 70s version - from what I've seen - happens in space and spaceships and to me it looks dark and cold but in the new films there are many different types of planets creating beautiful backdrops then the palaces, the costumes. George Lucas apparently did that deliberately saying the Pre-Empire universe was much more diverse and the new technology helped as well. But I will watch the old movies soon.

Let us know what you think The older films just have more heart and soul than the new ones. You might be pleasantly surprised plus you'll benefit from seeing the old ones before entering the next trilogy.
