    Couples counseling?

It's no secret that a lot of us have challenges at times in our relationships. My partner and I recently started talking about couples counseling to work through some issues regarding communications. A friend of ours in a long term relationship (30 years) shared that sometimes it is important to go to couples counseling to air out issues. Has anyone here done this before? My friend sent us a video that gave us some points and tips but if you guys have any thoughts I would love to here.

    Re: Couples counseling?

We did, and it helped us very much.........we've been together for 30yrs, had a few issues as all couples do. And working them out with a 3rd party was just what we needed. that was 10yrs ago and we are more the better for it now.

We have done it too! Together 30 years. I must say that it was absolutely amazing to be able to openly talk about some things that we were not completely clear about. It was money well spent and it has made us a better couple. The funny thing is that after only four visits the counselor told us that we did not need to see her any more, to our surprise! She said that she really did not see any problems that needed solving or any big issues, she praised us for wanting to make our relationship better. She also said that if a lot of couples were as open minded and compatible like we are, her clientele would most certainly diminish. Best of luck! Communicating with your partner and talking about everything is a very important key to a good and long lasting relationship.
