Florida State Rep: Testing Firm is Trying to Turn Students Gay

This one is just for laughs.

Florida State Representative Charles Van Zant (R-Keystone Heights), claims that a student testing firm is trying to turn Florida students gay. The firm, Washington, D.C. - based American Institutes for Research (AIR), administers a test in Florida based on the "Common Core" standards. Van Zant claims that the firm "has done research on lesbian and gay issues" and would "attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can."

AIR has yet to issue a statement on Van Zant's claims. Florida state Education Commissioner Pam Stewart says that AIR "does research for many clients and work for one does not influence its work for another." She says AIR was contracted to do testing in Florida by a normal process of competitive bidding.

Your children will be surreptitiously converted to homosexuality, through standardized testing in their schools.

    Truth is stranger than fiction.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

I'll agree the Common Core is absolute shit but this is also the problem when you try to attempt a "one-size fits all" package for education when reality will tell you that some students are better are certain subjects than others.

The Rep's incendiary remarks are right but for the wrong reasons. It's not like there is "gay maths" in the Common Core like this...

An anti-Common Core group in Florida, Florida Stop Common Core Coalition, has come out to support Van Zant.

"Rep. Van Zant was completely correct in his statements that AIR is promoting the LGBT lifestyle in children, and they are doing the same within families and churches," said Dr. Karen Effrem, president of Education Liberty Watch and executive director of the FSCCC.

^Again, they are right for the wrong reasons. It's no shock that Florida is 48th in education.

Aside: what blew my mind was that Texas is 6th in maths in the USA.

Must be all the Vietnamese I heard settled there, making perfect scores and dragging the curve up.
