You are right. I remember now that he is from mizzoorah.

don't rightly know why I thought he was from Arkanzazz.

Is there anyone on JUB from AK? It would be interesting to have their take on the reaction in the state to this crack in the Bible Belt opposition to legalizing sodomitical marriage.
*Looks for the disparagement of an entire state*

Responses to the new stay requests are due by 2 PM today.

    http://equalityontrial.com/2014/05/1...est-2pm-today/

Also, Conway County will be issuing licenses.

    http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2014/05/c...o-gay-couples/

Couples now have a matter of hours before a stay might be granted, and the next state is a few hundred miles up river.

Hopefully as many people as possible do this before the clock strikes the witching hour.

It's not just East Coast. It's west coast, too, and I heard the same kind of thing when I lived in Indiana and Illinois. Missouri and Arkansas are just a couple of states looked down on by people from all over. Even when I lived in Missouri I heard disparaging remarks about Arkansas, though more about Alabama (frak, even when I was in Texas, people made fun of Alabama!).

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

And those caught with marriage licenses but end up not being able to use them can file another suit . . . .

    Stay has been granted.

I wonder if people are getting tired of the stop and go.

I suppose if they hadn't done so, it would've looked too much like "tipping their hand"?

Well the rules for issuing a stay are what they are.

Most suspect that's why the Supreme Court issued a stay in Kitchen.

    A few observations I have:

-If "many" of the justices were out of state for the stay request, the plaintiffs should request the stay be lifted as soon as they all return.

-The court having different members won't really make a difference since they two new ones since the overturning of the adoption ban were appointed by the governor.

-It's quite possible for the court to put off ruling in our favor until after election day to avoid an possible outside influences.

I'm not clear from the article on this: can those with marriage licenses in had go ahead and get married?

It's a valid license but I'm not sure.

    Indeed.

The justices wouldn't want anyone to know whether or not they believe in justice.

And it's certainly worth making people suffer while they conceal their honor or lack thereof.

It's a shame, but I hope it will be resolved soon enough.

As for the off-topic thin-skinned reprise, what Kuli said and then some. There is a powerful bias on both coasts against respecting the center of the country. The Boston bussing crisis came long after federal actions had begun turning the South around, but the Northeast ignored that embarrassing episode as quickly as gay activists did the eruption of gay beatings that occurred last year in NYC.

And the West Coast prides itself in progressive causes, but then California passed Prop 8. It was a most inconvenient truth. Then the lamest excuse in the world was trotted out, that Mormon and Catholic dollars were all that was needed to persuade this most progressive population in the nation to sell out their values after watching a few TV commercials. What's wrong with this picture?

Accepting Lil' Abner or Snuffy Smith as the typical Oakie or Arkie is a ready trope that many on both coasts employ to further ensconce themselves in their smug erudition.

My guess isthey had a Skype conference and decided a stay took the least effort at this point.
