I think that sometimes, actors cross genres, so, you can be familiar with someone, such as Neil Patrick Harris for example, from TV and movies, and still root for him in a Broadway production you may never see because you like his other work.

I do go to theater and I do go to quite a bit of mirvish shows here in Toronto, but honestly the tonys are boring.

People in theater look to NY and London as the Holy Grail of theater--and regional theaters are also the place where it all begins--and those shows usually end up in NY and London too.

you don't have to care about awards. I love music, but I couldn't give 2 shits about the Grammies.

I do pay attention to the Tony Awards, though. I do like going to musicals, but at $90+ for decent seats, awards are a good starting off point for deciding which ones are worth my hard-earned dollars.

I like the Tonys. Those people work hard and deserve a reward plus it's always good to have an eye out to see what could be coming your way that might be good

Yes, they do. Stage actors need lots more skill than screen actors.

When will the Tonies be awarded? Will it be televised? Are there gay people among the nominees?

This is going too far for publicising a Broadway show isn't it?

I'll be watching. I like the pan shots of the audience. I hope Neil Patrick Harris wins.

don't understand it at all... I thought he was purely average.

not bad, but I think that the experience of having been in the public eye since he was a kid has left him incapable of showing a real emotional range on camera. he does funny/snarky pretty well, but that's about it.

I bet there's pressure to publicise a Hollywood import to encourage ticket sales.

The NY Times said The Tonys ceremony itself had more of a ratings-driven, commercial-entertainment feel than in some recent telecasts. The telecast featured numbers from two shows that weren’t part of the 2013-14 season...

I think Hugh Jackman did a great job last night. He's a triple threat - can sing, dance and act.
