Quiz question: The earliest war on North American soil to be photographed was........?

I've been doing some more research.

You may get clues whether you've come here first or to the Presidents one first, to the answer to the other thread and vice versa.

The first war on North American soil that was photographed was........

The Mexican-American War (also called the U.S.-Mexican War), 1846-1848.

    Did you notice something?

The daguerrotype technique, when processed, results actually in a mirror-image photograph.

One of the two sources (hotlinked sites) above has used a computer to 'flip' the image to what could be considered its 'real life' or 'naked eye' appearance.

^ Interesting website I found about the photography of the war.

The Mexican-American War was the first to be documented by the new medium of photography, as the process was perfected in France only a few years before and introduced in the US in the early 1840s.
Some annotations for the following pics from the website....

Artist unknown, Mexican Family, daguerreotype, ca. 1847

Artist unknown, Col. Hamtramck, Virginia Volunteers, daguerreotype, ca. 1847

Artist unknown, [Street scene in Durango, Mexico], daguerreotype, ca. 1847

Artist unknown, [Parroquia de Santiago, Saltillo, Mexico], daguerreotype, ca. 1847

(too much light getting inside the camera = negative image) (I think)

Artist unknown, Burial Place of Son of Henry Clay in Mexico, daguerreotype, 1847

Again, I hope these pics all show up and once again we escape the Curse of the Red X.

    Hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for the thread, ChickenGuy. I was thinking it would have been the Civil War.
