I saw her on some show yesterday, and when i heard the title i thought, oh god no, not another banal happy clappy load of bollocks, but it's actually rather good, nice sing-a-long bits as well.

Not that we ever have a hope of winning it again.

Dream Team. Thank you for this post. The only thing I had known previously about Eurovision was what has been talked about on the "Graham Norton Show" over the years. But I really love some of these songs. Thanks for sahring.

She seems really nice but I wish the song was a bit more energetic. I can't wait for eurovision though! I'm thinking of going out and enjoying it live in federation square with all the other fans!

I have to admit, i do prefer my Eurovision to have lots of energy, but my favourites don't always make it past the semi-finals. Bulgaria's 2012 dance track 'love unlimited' by sofi marinova was such an example.

Any things better than engelbert Humperdinck. I'm sure he's a really great guy but just not right for eurovision.

One of my favourite parts of eurovision is learning about the amazing talent in Europe I wouldn't normally be exposed to like alexander rybak and darin.

Okay, i can't be asked to do the time consuming exercise of uploading more videos individually, so here is a link to a youtube playlist where you can watch all 37 entries!! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...VNAamPBLLeFfPe and here is a video i created showing brief clips of each entry, ranked by my least to most liked (except uk since thats my own country, so it automatically plays first). Youtube goes crazy in March and April with Eurovision youtubers video showcasing their song preferences, nuts.

    Eurovision shaming

In the past eurovision has always been a big deal for the lgbt community but lately I've felt like people are a little big more ashamed of it than usual.

Why is this so? I mean, I know it's high camp but there's a lot of stuff we still love that's high camp and I mean it's just amazing and so colourful and gives me the travel bug.

Is it just one of those things people grow out of or people feel like they shouldn't like it anymore but secretly do?

Can't wait to watch the grand final this week.

It has always been a complete joke in the UK, with everyone making jokes about it constantly. It is more loved for the fact its a big camp joke with terrible singers - although the past few years the fun has gone out of it and the acts are less mad now.

This I have noticed. I don't know who's representing the UK this year, I haven't heard whatever he/she/they are singing and I most certainly will not be watching the show.

    Re: Eurovision shaming

Eurovision is cult. There may be plenty enough people that see it as a joke, but there is a significant fanbase. I've watched the contest for the last 22yrs. I love it. Its not what i'd call a gay thing though. Its liberal, its colourful, the artists can be crazy (or not), its eclectic in its musical genres, its political (like it or not, though not so much as it used to be). It's great entertainment whatever it is you like about it. The voting is the part we all look forward to, wanting our country to win, or seeing our favourite do it instead.
My sister hates it, she's gay, a colleague of mine loves it, he is straight. I think it has a false reputation as being of some kind of special interest for gays, not helped by the fact Terry Wogan was replaced by Graham Norton as the commentator for the final.
I watch both semi-finals as well as the final, and i start watching the entries on youtube as soon as they are made public around March. Its once a year, its something i look forward too a lot. And considering that the show is watched by multiple millions, i think i'm not alone lol

The first semi-final was absolute drivel. I was very impressed with the staging and lighting but the songs themselves were easily forgettable. I'm looking forward to the lady with a beard tonight.

The second semi-final was fantastic. Much better than the first. For one heart-stopping moment, I thought Austria wasn't going to get through. I'd love it if Conchita won. Not keen on the actual song but a bearded lady! That's got to be worth voting for.

I never watch the semi-finales or listen to the songs on radio/internet. I want every song to be brand new and fresh for the finale tomorrow evening.
I do not want to have favourites. I'll make up my mind right there and then.

It's the Eurovision Song Contest 2014!

Only day of the year that I'm (vaguely) pro-European.

We're off - first song already done - as usual, I haven't heard any of them (even the U.K. entry)

After I've heard all songs, I'll try and post my fave in a vid if I can find it quick.

    Who will win?
