If you had a personal 'Undo' button

All sorts of computer programs have an 'undo' button which effectively erases an action and lets you do it again, usually differently.

I don't think it would be a surprise to know that I would 'undo' that little tumble on January 5th.

If you had an Undo button, what event would you have pushed it for?

Re: If you had a personal 'Undo' button

I can't think of just one thing, I'd need dozens of levels of "Undo".

I would push that button all the freaking time. There's definitely one or two moments I would use it for sure.

If I had an undo button, I would be pushing it all the time, and wouldn't have time for nothing else.

The bigest one would be the lung transplant 13 years ago, I wouldn't have to take all the medication I take every day.

    there's a guy that I wouldn't have let go.

sometimes I wonder if it was for the best, since he died suddenly about two years later, but I can't help also wonder if things would have been different if we'd been together. (he was in an accident that left him in a wheelchair about a year and a half after we ended things... a few months after that, he suffered a brain aneurysm that killed him. I'll always wonder if staying together would have somehow avoided that accident and if the brain aneurysm was caused as a result or if that was just fate and it was his time to go either way)

Life does have an undo button.

It's simple if you fuck up and/or make the wrong decisions. Just stand the fuck up again brush yourself off and promise to not to it again. It doesn't undo what happened but it will make you have fewer regrets.

Change of career, or at least aimed it in a different direction.

Opted in for a gap year.

Pushed harder with the guys in our band to really give it the old college try.

First it's great to see you back on JUB.
At one time I could have enumerated a few dozen things, but I have grown to realize that I am who I am today because of life experiences, even though some things were painful I wouldn't push the button, I am happy as I am.

I'd undo getting second and third degree burns from lying on the beach for too long, in North Carolina, and receiving a bill from a hospital a day-or-so later in Philadelphia for £3,500.

    Neil,
I'm glad you're feeling well enough to post threads like this one - reflective, but also a bit light hearted at your own "discomfit".

Yes, there are a few things I wish had turned out differently.

Re: If you had a personal 'Undo' button

I am where I am today because of where I've been in the past and because of the choices I've made. They've shaped me into the person I've become. I wouldn't change a thing.

Though sometimes at the time I wish I could have taken something back and made a different decision, or wish I'd have done something rather than stand on the sidelines, those choices have led me to be braver, stronger, and more willing to go for what I want and not worry so much about others' reactions.

I tend to hold on to the belief that at every moment, I'm in the best situation I need to be in in order to grow and become the best person I can possibly be. The moment you stop growing and improving, you start dying. Looking back, I can see a pattern of events and decisions I've made that have led me to where I am now, and it's only taking me to a greater adventure. Changing anything in the past would wreck where that path leads. So I won't.

An "undo" button would be nice, but it would like living with a crutch, knowing you can always erase something. I prefer not to have to use it and I am happy where I am today with the choices I've made.

If I could undo it, but still retain the lessons learned, there's an awful lot I would undo. Otherwise, I am certain I would just end up re-doing the same stupid thing.

I'd only use it for apparently innocuous decisions which led to really bad consequences.

    Everything.

Every time it's used that annoying voice from Catherine should pop in and say "UNDO". That alone would prevent me from overusing it.

Re: If you had a personal 'Undo' button

i would certainly have used it for the time I got screwed out of $1,600,000.00 jackpot at a casino in Michigan. I won the jackpot on a flaming 7's machine, and waited for payout, and by the time they came the machine shut off, and they would not pay me. I think the purposely waited, or used some remote device to shut the machine down, so they could avoid paying me. And, instead of questioning them and demanding to see camera footage from the machine I was playing, I just got angry and did nothing. They came with a cart, and took the machine away, along with the $600.00 in credits I still had on it, and my players card. I was PISSED!!!!

So, yeah, if I had a do over button, I would have pushed it, and went back to my winning jackpot, and if they tried to weasel out of it. I would have said. Oh hell no! Pay me now, or i'll have the local news and the cops here so fast it will make your head spin. And, I'm sure I could get a slew of lawyers to back me for the commission on that settle ment.

So sad. I would have been set for life.
