Public opinion of Homosexuality in Bangalore, India

I found this video & thought I would share....

Kanan Gill walks around Bangalore, India & asks local Bangaloreans (mostly younger adults) what they think about homosexuality (especially given the fact that homosexuality is now illegal in India & gay people can be arrested).

I was honestly surprised at their responses (but then again, most of the people he talked to were younger, English-speaking, and probably more "Western" in their views). Older people & non-English speakers & less educated people probably are much more traditional in their views, IMO.

FYI: Bangalore is India's 3rd largest city & has about 8 million people (roughly the same as New York City)

I found this personally relevant because my family is from Bangalore & I have visited many times. I could tell the locations where they shot that video.

Damn, he's hot. Makes me want to visit India!
If you could just put a light bulb over every gay personís head, people would see just how well-lit their streets and cities are.

It's no coincidence that Jeevanbheemanagar, Horamavu, Kalikanagar and Milk Colony are some of the Indianest areas in Bangalore. Is it all gay men of color or do they make gay men of colorless live in the "hood".

I do believe that racism exists with gay Indian men because they do not date men of colorless in India.

I also have census data that proves that gayborhoods in Bangalore are made up of overwhelmingly Indian people

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangalore

This link is proof that Bangalore is mostly Indian.

I'm still waiting for Bollywood star John Abraham to call me as he is datable but he must be racist because he won't call a person of colorless. White bois of Nordic descent are prejudiced against in India because you don't see many of them.

That is profound. It would make a great bumper sticker.

    I love his accent.

Oh -- and there were a bunch of cute guys and gals in the first vid!

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

I think the still-struggle we're having in the U.S. over gay rights should be a case in point that you can never deduce a whole society's attitude about homosexuality from its lawbooks. There are many countries that Americans tend to write off as just "backwards overall" monolithically, like Iran, where there's actually a tremendous demographic divide between the younger generation and the older in terms of their viewpoints on many social topics. The thing that I've been repeatedly told by virtually every Persian I've ever known is how Iran is basically a huge 30 and under population that wants modern educations, bluejeans and doesn't mind gay clubs living in a country ruled by a small, dinosauric religious cabal of older people who are slowly dying off. And it's honestly not much too difficult in a slightly different timeline to imagine the U.S. being pretty similar.
