Rep. Trey Radel charged with cocaine possession

Radel, a republican, was elected in 2012. He represents Florida.

Hopefully he will resign today --- otherwise the House or his district should force him out of office.

We don't need people high on drugs in office.

I agree with the OP; isn't this the same guy who voted to drug test food stamp recipients? Too funny...

    .
    1. Mr. Radel should be a leader (teabagger Republicon), not a follower.
    2. Is cocaine possession against the law in Florida?
    3. What gives him the moral authority to order drug-testing for food stamp recipients?
    4. Should we be expecting an apology (at least)?
    5. Should Mr. Radel resign?

He is now a convicted felon so if the rules apply, he is no longer able to vote in FL.

Unless his lawyer had the charge reduced, possession is a third degree felony. In Florida, after 5 years, he can have that removed by filing for Executive Clemency....basically a pardon by the Governor which is available to anyone with a third degree felony who has satisfied all court sentences, requirements, fines, court costs, etc...Yes, he voted for the food stamp drug testing, which was an apic fail, along with drug testing for welfare payments. The higher courts ruled the entire republican mess a violation of the state constitution as well as finding out that the drug testing facility is administrated by the governors wife. Total conflict of interest as well as using taxpayer funds for personal gain. Typical republican trash.

Radel was arrested in DC, not Florida and evidently by a sting operation by the FBI and DEA.

It's nice to see some fair and balanced input from you, Jack. Thank you.

Yeah, this guy needs to go. I find it appalling he voted for forcing welfare recipients to do drug testing to receive food stamps when he himself was snorting up coke. What an asshole Trey Radel is.

One more of those Family Values Moral Christian of the Tea Bagging GOP. Does not practice what he preaches. Also watching the Ed Show and how the GOP are hypocrites. When it happens to liberal Democrat they demand the person resign. Guess what the GOP leadership is silent as usual.

Mr. Ed is another one of the long line of hypocrite hosts on MSNBC. He has different standards for people he likes. He doesn't have a fair bone in his huge body.

If there is any honor in the GOP, he'll resign.

If he doesn't, and there is even a trace of honor in the GOP, they'll shun him until he does.

If that doesn't get the message across, the entire population of capitol hill should shun him.

The "war on Drugs" is a racist program that subsidizes violence against the citizens of this country, and should end. If he'd supported that position, it would be more honest -- but even if he had, there's still the old Foreign Legion rule: do as you please off duty, but be fit for duty. Missing that many votes in a row shows he hasn't been.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "
