What? Rationalism coming out of Texas? They got flying swine too?

It appears that science is prevailing in the latest battle over Texas schoolbooks.

Though earlier this year several of the state’s textbook reviewers called for biology textbooks to discuss creationism, publishers are not complying with those requests, according to the Texas Freedom Network. The nonpartisan watchdog examined material made public by the Texas Education Agency and found that publishers are sticking with teaching evolution.

50 more years and people might even not remember creationism in schools...

I found this out last month reading the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Research and Science ran an article on 16 Oct 2013 about this

    http://www.richarddawkins.net/news_a...nce-textbooks#

which sourced the article from the Texas Freedom Network

That panel of creationists can only suggest changes, but they have no legal clout to enforce the recommendations they make, am I right? It would be time therefore to abolish the panel of cretins.

I had to read the title 3 times to get that a Texas publisher rejected creationism. It didn't register!

Good news. Since practically every textbook seems to originate in Texas, millions of students can now be blatantly shown the science.

They don't really originate in Texas, but Texas and California have enough clout that the textbook publishers run their new texts by them first.

It will be interesting to see how local reactionaries try to make sure the students don't learn science anyway.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "
