London electronic producer Actress has announced a new album, Ghettoville. The triple-LP release is out January 28 via Werkdiscs/Ninja Tune.
Ghettoville follows 2012's R.I.P., but according to a press release, it's really the sequel to Actress' 2008 debut, Hazyville, "sharing a similar rugged style." Hazyville will get a remastered vinyl release as part of the Ghettoville box set edition, which also includes a 32-page art book.
The Ghettoville press release includes a statement suggesting this may be the final Actress album. "Ghettoville is the bleached out and black tinted conclusion of the Actress image," it reads. "A fix is no longer a release, it's a brittle curse. Zero satisfaction, no teeth, pseudo artists running rampant, but the path continues. R.I.P Music 2014."

I'm super excited for this. Definitely one of my favorite bands.
No title or release date yet, but Mew has said their new album will be out this summer.
Their website leads to an app that uses samples of new recordings and feels kind of gimmicky. They have also released a new song on Spotify called "Making Friends". I'm not fond of it, reminds me more of Frengers, but apparently it is not the version we will hear on the new album. I've loved their past two records and I'm looking forward to hearing more.

The War On Drugs 'Lost In The Dream' out March 2014 on Secretly Canadian. Looking forward to seeing these guys here in March.
I always heard a bit of Bob Dylan and Tom Petty in their work. This is strikingly more Springsteen-esque. That isn't something that would normally appeal to me, but I like this.

One of my favorite bands, Elbow, releases their new album 'The Take Off and Landing of Everything' March 2014.
Here's the first single/video.
Album title seems pretentious, but this song sounds great. I'm glad it to hear something different from the orchestrations so prominent on the previous two albums.

"Keith Morris’ punk supergroup OFF! will release their sophomore album, Wasted Years, on April 8th via Vice Records. Our first taste of the 16-track album’s “thematic darkness” comes with the pleasantly-titled opener, “Void You Out”. Though their output’s always distilled hardcore to its very essence, they’ve managed to fill the spaces with even more angst and outrage, growing angrier and scarier with time."
