    Do you feel inadequate?

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

He-Man became He-Man by lifting his sword aloft and casting what amounted to a magic spell. He was a prince, true, but otherwise ostensibly some average Joe who became this muscle-bound hero.

Barbie wasn't some average girl who magically became this beautiful model. She was always this beautiful model. Even when working at McDonald's.

Nah. The characters you have mentioned here are just representations of someone's view of what they believe is attractive. Whether or not you yourself feel adequate or beautiful...that's just all on you. Be a good person, and take care of yourself, and you'll feel good about yourself, regardless of how you compare to society's view on what is beautiful and what is not

Inadequate is not a feeling I have when I look at him...I instead have a feeling of embarrassment for him.

I also think it is embarrassing that one of America's biggest exports is fantasy movies with super heroes that have super powers. It says a lot about who we are.

Why doesn't He-man wear sensible, proper clothing? His nipples would freeze off in a Minnesota winter.

Also, if He-man feels the need to carry massive weaponry around he either lives in a place where he shouldn't and needs to move to a safer area or aligns himself with the NRA. Paranoid people who need to tote an assault weapon into a JC Penney aren't on my list of desirables.

No thanks. Put some clothes on, stay out of the gym 24/7, get a haircut and and lose the weapons, He-man.

I don't feel inadequate. I don't think males are held to the same unrealistic standards as females. Women have to put up with a lot of crap in life. Especially from other women. This I have heard.

I'm also concerned He-man may have health problems.

The edema in his lower extremities can be a sign of Lymphedema, Preeclampsia, and a multitude of heart problems. Could be headed for an early grave.

And his page-boy haircut was in vogue in the 50's through the 80's but not anymore. Even Dorothy Hamill couldn't pull one off and she could do the a scratch spin.

Haha that's a clever picture... but it's true. You never see men complaining that certain characters portray a false idea of blah blah blah, like women do.

Also, I don't feel inadequate, because real men just aren't built that way. Those that are, worked extremely hard to gain that kind of muscle.
I don't even feel inadequate when looking at mega hung porn stars, I just like seeing those giant dicks in action... even if they wouldn't be very practical in a lot of real life situations

I really like that pic TBH. That become one of my fav meme-then.
Barbie is like a major Lilith bitch- she's a faux femininity, a fresh air against masculine oppressor world- ruled by He-man.
But when Barbie shares her power too much, the world become corrupted..long short story, she's not better than He-man, she's equally horrible as he is, only in different department. When Barbie becomes too powerful, world citizen look back at He-man as a role model and protector once again before they get stressed out again with his antics. And the cycle goes on...

On television, Geraldo always had no strippers, as well as Donahue, and Im amazed that Armando* and Tom Marinelli were shown because you can see their ass after they finish stripping.

The video has been transferred once or twice so there are some 'hiccups' on the video

    Armando*
    - Ive been calling him Fernando and I just realized that it is Armando (The same name as my landlord. yikes !!) He has a great ass (along with his stripper namesake he he)

Im thinking there might be 2 major reasons

    1. Speedo was "in" back then..any prop from music videos, movies used that as costume of choice ie: Sci Fi movie= speedo! Jurassic movie= speedo! Super hero= speedo! Yoga instruction= speedo! (Im not kd, I saw one with speedo instructor)
and today..speedo isn't "in" anymore, a left over style.

    2. It might because audience are getting male-crotch phobia more evenso than before. We replace speedo with bulge over shorts, mesh shorts, jeans or dress pants which I feel personally lackluster compared to speedo

Rather ironically, I went to a burlesque show tonight, and the special (male) guest star did a routine...dressed as Lion-O from Thundercats. It was awesome.

Same guy, same outfit...but he did his routine to "Stray Cat Strut". And he took more off.

    Re: Do you feel inadequate?

"Perfect is just an illusion created by people who always want to be disappointed in themselves."

The image in the OP doesn't make me feel inadequate, I do, because I have this ridiculous obsession with trying to be the best at everything and I feel like a failure when I'm not. On the one hand, it means I put a lot of time and work into the things that are important to me, but it also results in perpetual frustration and feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy.

This definitely applies to my physical appearance. I've gained a whole lot of muscle since I started lifting a few years ago, but every time I see my body in the mirror all I seem to focus on is imperfection. What's ridiculous is that I never hold anybody else to the same standards I set for myself. I don't give a fuck if the guy I'm with has a six pack or defined muscles, in fact if we're speaking in a strictly physical sense, I'm more attracted to men who don't have those things. But, part of me recognises that it's seen as the ideal by the majority and so I strive to attain it for myself.

I can't speak for what anybody else has to deal with (and that most certainly includes women), so the following applies to nobody but myself; but I think it would be far too convenient for me to blame He-Man for my own feelings of inadequacy, especially when those feelings apply to so many areas outside of my physical appearance alone. It's not He-Man's fault I've never felt satisfied with my body. If ripped physiques weren't seen as the ideal, they'd just be replaced with something else and I'd probably be striving to achieve that instead. It's my own burden to bear, and I'd much rather focus my energy on overcoming my obsession with perfection than fighting to change the appearance of a cartoon character.

That awesome..well, but difference is that^ is a burlesque, it's supposed to be lewd/sexy and Dolph Lundgren- Master of the Universe? might pass for PC rating while still wearing speedo.
Well, we're still using speedo-clad performers in some of the show that require speedo/leotard for ease of movement such as circus show (Cirque du soleil?) ballet and wrestling and I dont mean commercial wrestling (WWE), their bulge are horribly disfigured/sunken

No. If it were Stretch Armstrong, yes. Flexible and full of goo.
