That we are capable only of being what we are, remains our unforgivable sin.

Americans are amazingly dumb and not informed compared to other Western countries---of course GOP congress is a prime example and I also love the Tea Party rally where the old fool of a man was screaming, "Keep you damn government hands off my Medicare" so many examples.

If an educated public is necessary to a democratic republic, I think we're in trouble.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

As we might (pricing and coverage information is not yet available) know now the name Affordable Care Act is probably not accurate.

Well that was Jefferson's philosophy of government power derived from the informed masses that could be the only free democracy.

Very few, if any, understand Obama care. Few in Congress read the entire thing, and the 20,000 pages of regulations are not done. NO ONE knows how it will work in practice, and beyond doubt it will be altered many times by Congress in attempts to make it work in practice. The Democrats on this forum pretending to understand it are lying to themselves at to the rest of us. Those opposing it, at least can be certain they are the intended victims.

The administration has not done a good job of explaining the ACA. Everyone knows that.

Where have you been the last few weeks? There's a thread on this board where you can find pricing information.

And it certainly seems affordable -- had I not my own insurance, I could get a plan for less a month than I spend on gas. Although if by affordable you mean it would actually help me, I suspect from that angle you're correct -- the plan I'd get for that price would probably provide insurance I couldn't afford to use.

President Obama and the Democrats haven't done a very good job of promoting the ACA. On the other hand, Fox and the republicans have dome a great job spreading disinformation and lies about it. No wonder the public is misinformed about the ACA.

The stupid vote is what republicans are aiming for.

You're not grasping what is being talked about. We are talking about specific rates and coverage -- not a general price and coverage.

The stupid ones are the ones who believed that they would easily sign up and get health insurance for nothing.

Is that why you were so desperate to get on the ACA site and upset that you couldn't?

At least I wasn't telling fibs like you and saying everything was fine and the only problem was the site was busy.

Still waiting for the admission that you and others were wrong.

However this is when I expect it . . .

Oops! I forgot you don't believe in hell.

Several articles by techs that I've read say that is still the biggest problem: the software was apparently not tested for what would happen with more than a few dozen users at once. The other one is that they weren't prepared to monitor performance and track down the inevitable bugs. Those two together make a situation where simple glitches can cause catastrophe.

If only a hundred people were trying to register, it might be okay.... but it's mind-boggling that over half a billion was spent to get this ready, and it isn't. Frak, they could have done a test run a month ago with ten or twenty thousand computer science students at universities logging on and going through the registration process.
