It is getting some great reviews. One said watching it in IMAX 3D you felt like you were about to tumble into space at about 3 minutes in.
I think you mistake me for someone who cares.

Yeah the general consensus of reviews is the highest I can remember a movie ever having. Still, this year has had it's fill of major disappointments, so I'm just expecting something better than average at best.

I dig Alfonso Cuarón. Based on the very little I've read about it, I almost want to skip the theatrical and just watch for a director's cut... but I've been waiting for this one.

    Re: Gravity

Just got back from the theater awhile ago. This is by far the best movie I have seen in years; far from the disappointment that I was afraid it was going to be. You actually do walk out of the theater with a better appreciation for gravity.

I saw it in Imax 3D, but honestly I was not as impressed by that as I was the story, acting, and the impressive cinematography. Definitely an Oscar nod for Bullock (who looks absolutely amazing for a 49 year old woman!). I'm not a big Clooney fan, but casting him and Bullock together for this was perfect.

And this movie should be subtitled "Girl Can't Catch a Break."

Well they're both tops in their field, so it only seems natural.

    I gotta see this.

Still not impressed by Sandy or George, always see the celebrity.

Since we choose to see the 3D IMAX version, couldn't get tix last night until the midnight showing, and this was around 7PM. Great movie. Can't imagine watching in anything less than 3D IMAX.

    Re: Gravity

Saw it in 3D. As they're saying, this is what 3D was made for. Haven't seen any other 3D versions this effective except maybe Tron Legacy and Avatar. Most films in 3D left me questioning why it was in 3D. Not this one. Wow. It didn't take acting to make me feel the suspense and fear when that stuff looked like it was literally coming right at me.

I invited a friend to attend and they were all like, is that the one with Sandy and George? And I said yeah, and they were all like, hahahahahah!

I was like, whatever. Don't watch it then.

So what did you think? I assume you saw it without your friend.

Good movie. 3D was worth it. Heard a lady have a complain that the movie took place in space too long....

Cuaron directed, "Children of Men", which was the last movie that truly blew me away in recent memory, so I walk into "Gravity" with high hopes... Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

We have a sort of "mini Imax" theater here in Sarasota, but still... $32 for two tickets is kinda hard to swallow.

Hopefully it will be worth it...

I don't know how anyone could be disappointed if they see it in 3D IMAX because it is an experience like I have never had before. It is awe inspiring and terrifying. I felt like I was going to tumble into space, or get smacked in the face with debris. And Bullock is just incredible. I recommend this movie in the highest possible way for people who love space adventures and especially new experiences in cinema.

    1. They selected her because she had especially very steady hands compared to other Hubble repair candidates.
    2. As biomedical engineer, she could have worked on medical equipment with similar parts, in the hospital that she briefly mentioned.

Anyway, I usually like Degrasse. But it is kind of cheap how he is using this movie's success to get some of the spotlight just by nitpicking about things he supposedly is the ultimate expert in.

Finally got a chance to see it today in IMAX 3D.

    It thought it was insane.

It was like being on a roller coaster ride gone berserk. And yet I didn't want it to end.

Saw this yesterday. 3D IMAX was expertly done and it is the best film I've seen a long, long time. This is one you want to see in the theatre. Don't wait for Blu-Ray.

In the end, movies are only going to make money if besides being good( which " Gravity" REALLY is) they're also entertaining. It was intended to give as realistic a portrayal of how things really are in space as possible yet also impart an edge of your seat thrill fest. Some artistic license just has to happen. The nitpicking is so silly, how many movies can you count that felt like it ended too soon, like there was still something to tell, something to enjoy? NOT many, for certain... and this was my only real disappointment, that the ending seemed a little short for me.

    Re: Gravity

The movie was only 90 minutes. But I think they did a good job doing everything they could with the story without stretching it out needlessly. Pacing was excellent. Not a whole lot of options for a stranded astronaut in space to keep a story going and make it somewhat believable.

Maybe not but it still might be enough to get me to buy a 3D TV.
