Cruz urges Reid to call Senate into session and avert shutdown

    .
    http://presspass.nbcnews.com/_news/2...-shutdown?lite

Cruz said, “If Harry Reid forces a government shutdown, that will be a mistake. I hope he backs away from that ledge that he’s pushing us towards.”

He also said “Harry Reid has to move off his absolutist position” and accused the Majority Leader of not being willing to compromise or even being willing to discuss possible changes in the health care law which President Barack Obama signed in 2010.*
Harry Reid better straighten out and fly right. The Democrats are so disrespectful, obstructive and unwilling to compromise. All they think about is themselves. They should take the welfare of all Americans to heart. Reid should treat President Cruz with more respect. Perhaps Reid should be censured by the Senate.

*Pssst. The Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of ACA. The decision was in all the papers.

Who does this Rafael Cruz think he is anyway? He acts like he's a Dictator.... like he's the President and Speaker of the House wrapped up in the Supreme Court.

He is trying to push Mitt Romney's campaign promises through even tho he lost. The strangest thing is he and the other radical republicans are claiming it's the Democrats who are the obstructionists.

He can go back to Canada or Cuba or where ever it is he comes from.

Where the Hell is the republican leadership? Where's that worthless crybaby Boehner and why can't he control his brats?

Pretty outrageous when Cruz is the one who held up the last bill all last week in the Senate.

The republicans will be slinging like crazy to try and pin their fuck up on the democratic party. I don't think they are fooling anyone but their deluded masses.

Maybe that's your fantasy, but he was the only guest on Meet the Press this morning. I'm sure his conversation with David (Mr. Marshmallow) Gregory was scintillating.

It's insanity the way the Republicans blame the Democrats for their tactics. "We're going to shut the government down, if the Democrats don't give us our way, so it's all their fault if the government shuts down." They did the exact same thing about not renewing Obama's tax cuts and then blamed Obama for "raising taxes on every American."

Absolutely ridiculous. No party is perfect, but you have to hand it to the Democrats for never blackmailing the federal government to shutdown, and hold hostage the American economy.

Sadly, some people actually will believe this crap.
You see some saying Obama needs to be willing to comprise.
On what exactly? The only things Republicans will accept is getting everything they want with nothing in return.
Not how it works and I'm glad he's drawing a line in the sand.

I watched Meet the Press too. He was babbling on about what the ACA is doing to Americans. The law doesn't even start till tomorrow. Nobody it getting anything until tomorrow. Such a bastard.

So to all you CE&P'ers out there who are avid students of the Constitution, what, if anything, is the remedy the system offers for when democracy is failing because a faction or group has devoted itself to stopping democratic process and refusing to compromise?

I know this isn't the first obstructionist or do-nothing period in U.S. History, but I'm also unsure what if anything is intended as the remedy for this when one side utterly won't compromise and is content to bring all business of government to a halt rather than compromise.

Reid was busy picking out new magic white underwear over the weekend and until this afternoon at his home in the Ritz-Carlton and couldn't be disturbed.

So you place NO blame at all with the republicans? This mess is all President Obama and the Democrats fault?

When Springer's got nothing he resorts to little "jokes" he thinks are scathingly clever. I'm sure he got the habit from his grandparents when they used to make jokes about FDR's wheelchair.

When he stole a cookie out of his Gramma's cookie jar and had to sit in the corner for punishment, he blamed Gramma for having the cookies in the first place. It was her fault because she shouldn't have baked those tasty cookies because it tempted him too much.

    It's all Gramma's fault.

I doubt if my grand-parents knew anything about FDR's wheelchair.

Why are the little jokes not OK now -- this place was full of them during the last election.

The House republicans are only asking for 2 things ...

No special treatment regarding Obamacare in the House and Senate

Delaying the individual mandate by one year (Obama has given 1 year delays for many groups already)

Does that really sound that radical? or evil? or like blackmailing or like anarchists? ... not at all, seems pretty fair to me.

And the only reason that they are doing this is to delay it beyond the 2014 mid-terms...in case it turns out that it works.

    Shabby.

And yes. To attach an issue like this that has been fought and won in elections and the courts to a routine spending bill?....desperate blackmail.

I wasn't aware Rafael Cruz was Speaker of the House, or is he just pretending to be.

I think the fact that he and his gang of thugs have succeeded in a coup in their own party...completely consigning Boehner to the wings is scary. Surely after this latest tactic fails and voters wake up...these t-bagging wacktivists have to get their asses handed to them in 2014?

I can't help but believe with almost 100% certainty, Jack, that if the Democrats had done this with oh I don't know... let's say the Patriot Act... your position would be a little bit different.

Um, it doesn't matter what they are "only" asking for. As Jon Stewart said - YOU LOST! YOU GET NOTHING! They claim to love the Constitution. Well, according to the Constitution, the ACA was passed by Congress, then signed into law by the President, then upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court. The end. Doesn't matter what they want, they don't get anything, and it's nobody else's fault that they don't. Deal with it.
That we are capable only of being what we are, remains our unforgivable sin.

The Second Amendment. Patriotic Americans should round up the House Republicans, then tar and feather them alive before hanging them.

There is no Constitutional "remedy" because this isn't a "Constitutional" problem.

The problem is systemic. When you have only 2 parties the risk that one of them can do this is exponentiated. If you have to answer to a coalition of parties it's much harder for crazy radical religio-fascists from Texas to hijack an entire country.

Hey, they're all into pronouncing "Second Amendment remedy!" for all sorts of issues. Turn-about is fair, no?

Besides, if there's anyone in the country for whom a Second Amendment remedy might be needed, it would be the House Republicans.
