For the first time since 1979, the President of the United States and the President of Iran have communicated with each other.
In 2011, President Obama tightened sanctions with Iran. Iran elected a new moderate President, Hassan Rouhani. With President Obama's tough stance on Iran and his diplomacy, Rouhani is backing down with the tough talk Iran's former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad indulged in and phoned him.
Rouhani even went so far as to tell the President to "have a good day" to which the President thanked him and said "God be with you".
Does this mean the two countries are warming to each other and a shift in relations?
It's being called historic and a breakthrough. It is.
Thanks President Obama!
