Money Well Spent on bin Laden Capture & Captured Data Analysis

    Fellow JUBers,

I say $2.5 million well spent on the capture of bin Laden & the subsequent captured data analysis.

While we spend $52 billion on capturing data that is completely worthless.

More platitudes from you. Where is the evidence that all $52 billion went to data that was all worthless? That article can't even provide anything to support their claim of being "often ineffective".

They should have done that at the very beginning of 9/11
instead of spending 3 Trillion dollars and up ......

    Huh?

Please document where even the majority of that yields worthless data.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

^ If you don't like USA Today as a source, then look up the Washington Post's original article.

Neither says anything remotely like what you claim.

U.S. spy agencies have built an intelligence-gathering colossus since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, but remain unable to provide critical information to the president on a range of national security threats, according to the government’s top-secret budget.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...972_story.html
They spend $52 billion/year without being able to provide intelligence to the president.

Sounds pretty worthless, if you ask me. They failed to detect 9/11. They found WMDs in Iraq which never existed. It took them 10 years to find Osama Bin Laden. They failed to detect the development of atomic bombs by both Pakistan and North Korea. They're not sure about Syria gassing it's people.

I understand they're pretty good at reading our emails and keeping track of their girlfriends, though.

Please post something supporting that. What you've provided so far doesn't, even when clipped to try to fit your claim (as you just did above).

Basically while there is valuable work done we don't get often an effective bang for our buck... the vaunted CIA has missed a lot of things over the years. I fail to see why you are taking a tigerfan approach here of brick wall resistance when you are skeptical of many of our agencies' effectiveness usually. If T-Rexx means all the money is wasted, obviously not. But much is, as embarrassing as it seems to the powers that be to have had the word gotten out.

The problem is that with many of these agencies, you don't see the successes because success results in nothing happening. On the flip side, the failures are unfortunately evident and sensationalized by the news outlets and so failures look frequent while successes look rare. Is there waste? Sure, but I would hardly categorize a majority of the money spent as being wasted.

    Huh?

He said the whole amount spent for intelligence is wasted -- all of it. My "approach" is to insist he provide at least some evidence or support for such an outlandish claim.
