Selling this - preaching this.
Tribe tribalism .
If socialism communism labour uk were necessary reactions responses to the ugly cruel results of the Industrial Revolution the earliest actions of "tribalism" were anti-labour. Anti-labour . Never again will a 12-year old or a 70-year old work to eat . The welfare state is just better at feeding and raising children than you will ever be . If 300 years ago we gave single mothers a few hundred pounds of whale meat we now give them food stamps. The welfare state is just better at feeding and raising children than you will ever be .
Tribalism - and I do think there is a need for this in the world .

I have to disagree with a couple of things.
To me, the word tribalism refers to a group of people who share the same views and have banded together. Examples of a tribe, would be a gang, dykes on bikes, polygamists, the billies, a church, or other such groups. A tribe is a unified group with shared beliefs, so that would be a good environment to raise a child in as far as reinforcing your belief system, but it would tend to shut out diversity and free thinking. Tribes tend to take care of their own, so if one member of the tribe is having trouble, other tribe members will help that member out. So being a member of a close knit tribe does have some advantages for being in a supportive group.
A true Welfare State in it's pure form, is Beneficial to the people of the state, but for many people, especially in the United States, the word "Welfare" has a negative connotation. And as such is met with negative reactions. For many Americans, the concept of a welfare state does not bring to mind the Nordic Model or the Modern Model, but a parsimonious system that barely supports subsistence living. In the states, the "welfare state" contributes to obesity, poor health, and doesn't enable you to get off the system. In fact, the Welfare state in the United States actually punishes people for trying to get out of the system. So in the United States, the system is broken. We need a different system and the Nordic model would benefit Americans, but the word "Welfare" would meet with as much resistance if not more than the word "Socialism". We need a few million politicians in the US to die off before any of these systems could be looked at fairly and rationally.

well Social Security US OAP elsewhere- the government acting tribal . A political statement the only point of which is to feed your grandmother . The only point . The US lack of universal medical care and the Reaganite expulsion of the crazies is instances of the government acting as a business not a tribe - the old the loonies and the children as expenses not the whole point .

A government is not a business and should not be judged as such .

There is validity to the argument that the political parties are acting like tribes, but tribes have been seen to work together to reach a common goal. That isn't something we are seeing in the Republican Party. They have no intention of working with anyone for any reason.
