Are you happy in your job/career ?

I am a machinist/toolmaker by trade, I enjoy what I do, particularly doing harder more intricate work that involves complicated math and a lot of concentration.
I suppose you could say that I take a lot of pride in my work, I spend time programing machines which is a challenge.
I kind of marvel at some of my coworkers, all but a few complain all day long, management is not a lot better, my boss always walks in in the morning like he is at his own funeral, as of late there have been many "loud" arguments, basically over non issues, seems like people are just angry because they have to work.
So, do you hate or like or just tolerate your means of making a living?

Well I have had a varied carrer in the military and generally prefer doing things over pushing paper, currently I am rearranging paper with the up-most deft anal retentiveness, so not quite as satisfying but I have loved most of my career so I really can't complain.

The next career I just dont know yet... we will hafta see.

Customers represent themselves on a macro-level as the marketplace, and a micro-level as individuals.

I would love my job if I had to deal with neither.

I don’t work anymore, but a day doesn’t go by where I don’t miss my old job. Funny thing is I wasn’t happy there towards the end.
I couldn't get my mind off you all day.

For the most part I enjoy my job. It involves a lot of attention to detail, which suits me perfectly. My boss is one of my best friends and we've worked together for about 12 years now. We complement each other very well. His strengths are my weaknesses and my strengths are his weaknesses. We are a great team. He compensates me well. I take pride in my work and always do an exemplary job. I have a lot of responsibility and I never take it lightly.

I do have a part time assistant and she's the biggest negative thing about my job. I hired her and things went well for a season. Now, she's turned into a total bitch and I'm very close to firing her. I'm waiting for her to give me attitude one more time and I'm going to tell her to take a hike. I've already discussed it with my boss. I told him if he heard news that I fired her not to be surprised. He's in agreement with me.

    happy-ish.

I like what I do, but there are some significant problems with my current company (namely, my department is extremely understaffed and management refuses to hire anyone new except replacements for people who quit, leading to my workload and stress levels being much higher than they should be as more and more work gets placed onto my shoulders)... I gave myself a deadline where I'm going to start looking for a new job if nothing changes, but I'll likely stay within the same career/field.

Some days are better than other... some moments in a day are better than the rest. Really my mood on whether I'm happy in my job is a constantly changing, pretty much daily thing.
I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it.

I'm happy with what I do. I enjoy the work and I enjoy the freedom I have where I'm at. I don't enjoy my coworkers much any more. I really think it's getting to be a time for a change.

I enjoy what I do, but I do feel my colleagues don't put in as much time as I do. We're all working on different aspects of the same project, so everyone has his or her own little bit to focus on, but my bit seems to need far more focus and many more hours than anyone else's bit.

As it is, I have only had one day this year where I have not had to physically be at work nor do any from home, and I am alone in that.

I'm also the worst-paid of the PhDs in the unit...

I'm unemployed at the moment and that sucks far more than most jobs I've had so far.

I enjoy learning new things and doing difficult things well.

When I'm employed I give it my best shot, I try very hard never to be late, tend to be back on the job at the moment the break is over and never leave the workfloor before it's actually time to leave the workfloor.

At the moment, I do not like my job very much.

I do not like being held accountable for things that are wholly out of my control.

Accountability for what I teach, yes.

Being responsible on my teacher evaluation for student standardized test scores on tests that they have not been prepared for because the State of New York does not have its own act together.....are you kidding me?

But that is exactly what is happening. And our teachers' union is worthless in fighting for our rights.....

I'm still in uni but I'm currently heading down the path of health care. I always wanted to help people and make a difference so I went down this path, but then I always imagined myself in the corporate world when I was younger. So I'm not really sure if I'm in the right profession. Its all very confusing

I'm still studying also, and happy with it.

It's stressful, challenging, frustrating, and time consuming; but also rewarding because I know I'm working toward achieving my goals.

I've still got many years of study ahead of me, and I'm both dreading and looking forward to every single one of them.

    My housekeeping job...

The straight couple I housekeep for started out as friends I moved in with. I do like them, they're very nice people, and they've helped me out a lot. But no two human beings get along all the time completely. We've had our share of arguments - it always pisses me off when they play the card against me of, "Well you're just saying that because you want attention!" No, I want you to get it through your thick head that this is how I feel - I don't want your damn attention! They never get me. It's as if I'm not supposed to have emotions sometimes, which makes me just shut down. And they really like to shame me and embarrass me into getting me to talk to people - which aggravates me even more. (I'm a hyperintrovert - the mental health damage done to me in the past I'm recovering from.) They mean well, they really do, but IDK sometimes... /shrugs...

    My supermarket job...

I love that I get to meet people - sometimes, it's the only socialization opportunity with other people I'll get that day. Sometimes, I'll even meet cute guys. Very cute guys. I get to make people smile, which helps me, too. But there was a lot - a lot of problems with my store before I left on medical leave. And they didn't even file my sickpay like the personnel manager was supposed to - I hand-delivered my filled out form to him myself, and he STILL didn't file it in the system! /facepalm...

Thankfully, neither of the above are forever jobs. These are just to get me through college and onto the next thing in life.

Although there is obvious favoritism at my work (no it's someone else doing the same job as me), I like my job simply because I could walk to and back to my workplace from home. Yeah convenience is a good thing because I simply HATE squeezing in public transport after work. Job scope isn't that bad too, but the pay is questionable.

Shoulda posted a poll... looks as if many if not most JUBbers are happy whereas most folks are not at all.

Poll: Most Americans unhappy at their jobs, affecting health costs and safety

Of about 100 million people surveyed, roughly 30 percent of employees are “engaged and inspired” in their work.

At the other end of the spectrum, roughly 20 percent are miserable and “roam the halls spreading discontent,” according to the findings.

The remaining 50 percent “are not engaged. They’re just kind of present, but not inspired by their work or their managers,” the survey found.

Not really i am a Nurses Aide and the job its self is not bad its just taking order from the Rn Nurses and they act like they have the power since they have the education. Some nurses are really good and helpful and some are lazy and rather tell you what to do or sit while the patient is ringing the call light. I had to bite my tongue so many times at the Nurses.

I am back in school again, going for medical coding and billing and Medical Records from what i did a ton of research on it and ton of places is hiring for it. I am excited about this.
