Free Enterprise in the US [SPLIT]

Free enterprise is for everyone, not just the rich. It is the only thing which has been able to raise the people out of poverty while innovating the improvements in our lives. It sounds good to say, lets confiscate from the rich so that everyone will be equal and no one will try to get rich. But, no, it has been tried and it does not work. The Republican Party is for all Americans, but without the socialist/communist agenda.

Lol, yeah, free enterprise is for everyone having the millions to buy off politicians and forge laws for themselves that stifle anyone trying to make it on their own outside of their reach. Are you truly so blind as to believe small business has any chance in America?

Let's hope they do have a chance. Small businesses make up 99.7 percent of US employer firms.

I've been involved in the management of a number of small businesses in recent years. The stifling oppression I notice most comes from government. Some of the regulations, taxes, fees and so forth make sense, but government (especially at the state and local level) is grossly inefficient and very non-responsive. "Take a number. Someone will be with you whenever we get around to it."

Well that goes into my "big business buys the laws that benefit them". If government wanted to help small business they'd be efficient.

Putting some of this in perspective...the definition of "small business" varies wildly on both sides of the aisle and therein lies the problem. Let's face it, business is politics and politics is business. Republicans talk about worshiping the sole proprietor or "mom and pop" business on one hand, but on the other hand reject any effort to ease the taxes and regulations on those "small" businesses. Almost every attempt to do so has been met with obstruction as a result of big corporate lobbyists who would like to swallow up and/or destroy those "mom and pops". WalMart is a perfect example. WalMart has singlehandedly destroyed legions of sole proprietors. Remember the 2012 election. When asked, Romney defined a "small business" as one making $10 million+ annually. That is not the grass roots America small business at all!! That is not the local little hardware store or the barber shop or the coffee shop or the family bakery that people like WalMart love to destroy. I've run a small company of my own for several years and the amount of taxes and self-employment taxes I am forced to pay sickens me, especially when I see mega-billion dollar corporations like Exxon who pay absolutely ZERO! The rich can afford the battery of lawyers and lobbyists it takes to skew the laws in their favor. I can't. They do it every day while republicans sit back and rubberstamp all of it. And they cry about regulation and wanting to privatize everything. The last time Congress allowed republicans to deregulate the banking industry, we all saw what that started. Manipulation of interest rates by Greenspan, the stock market dot.com crash, the ENRON debaucle and the eventual collapse of the housing and mortgage markets.
The REAL small business person in this country barely has a chance anymore. Politicians complain about an entitlement culture while they dole out corporate welfare and bail outs in the back rooms of Washington. The problem with this is that, sooner of later, they will have nothing left to redistribute from the middle class to the rich because the rich will have it all. And have the arrogance to blame Obama for wealth redistribution. Who is bailing out the middle class? Nobody.

This is what I was talking about. It is cynical to the extreme for Republicans and those who vote for them to talk about free enterprise. There's no such thing in the US.
