Clear Skies and Smooth Sailing: Second Star to the Right and Straight on ‘til morning.
Our beloved Prancing Pony / Seahorse passed away 20 May 2013, 23:30PDT.
His body wore out before his spirit – he lives on in all those he touched; we are many and we are truly blessed.
Lefty liked to put on a tough guy façade, but underneath he had a heart of gold.
He reached out to people as they came to JUB, trying to befriend all who passed his way.
He looked for little things that he could twist to personalize his relationships with one and all.
He mentored our prospective authors and poets, and was a Dutch Uncle to our younger members as they tried to get comfortable here at JUB and in their own skins.
He spent his life in service to others – in the U.S. Coast Guard, as an Airline Customer Service Manager, and in all that he did here and in the back channel. He wanted to make people smile and feel good about themselves.
Lefty was a guy with a huge love of life – maybe he knew his life on our mortal coil was going to be cut short because the Great Spirit above would be calling him home to raise the spirits above. Whatever the reason, he tried to give 100% all the time.
And, having put in his dues in Service, sometimes he didn’t do so well in the face of rules and regulations that didn’t seem to make sense to him. That sometimes got him into stormy seas, and that made those of us NOT at Mod Tower love him all the more. Truth be known, I think a mod or two smiled quietly at his antics, too. It was hard not to love our Leftykins.
