Are you excited about the Xbox One?

    I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed.

The once-a-day online check-in requirement doesn't bother me that much, but the pay-to-play used games bullshit pisses me off.

And I don't really give a shit about the new Kinect.

Obviously I'm interested to see what the actual games are going to look like on it; personally I think the graphics of our current generation of systems still look utterly fantastic, and can't imagine how they'd improve that much. I'm skeptical I'll be blown away when we finally get a look.

So as of now, I'm not that interested. You?

I have a WiiU. I think I'll stick with that for now, unless Xbox One has something amazing that I haven't heard about yet. I heard its not backward compatible, so you need to repurchase games. not cool.

Not interested. I'll survive with the 360 until they put that out of service.

I mean, why would you want a video game console to be about video games! I know I don't. Every time I sit down to play a video game, I think to myself "man, I hate playing video games! You aren't paying to play used games, not like what they're trying to do is any better.

    http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/re...e-owned-sales/

A customer walks into a reseller with a previously purchased game disc. This can only be done at retailers that, according to MCV, have "agreed to Microsoft's [terms and conditions] and more importantly integrated Microsoft's cloud-based Azure pre-owned system into its own." The game disc, having been registered in the system, now wipes the license use from the previous owner's account so that the installed game on their Xbox One can no longer be accessed.
So outside of the pure greediness of this, If am correct in assuming this I won't even be able to borrow a game off a friend if the games register to a system. Won't be getting this system ever.

No. Not even a little bit. Where do I begin?

A gaming machine which doesn't focus on games.

An 'all in' entertainment machine that seems geared towards US consumers alone - I mean this, there seems to be a focus on on-demand movie and TV series which are wholly only available in the US - like Netflix. I can tell you, as an Aussie gamer, there are no decent on demand services available here.

So, if I can't play games on the machine - what good is it to me?

Why should I buy a machine which won't recognise my current Xbox 360 games library - especially when they have yet to announce any 'must have' Xbox One launch titles.

A system that requires game registration so I may not be able to play secondhand or borrowed games?

A system that seemingly requires itself to always be on and always connected. Also, the suggestion seems to be that the kinect must also always be on for the console to operate. Why? I don't feel secure having a camera 'always on' in my living room.

For me any "gaming" console is all about the "games." So far I do not see a big list of impressive games lined up, which sort of defeats the purpose of getting excited for it. Even with the 360, games have hit a dry spell in the past year or so. It's just sitting around collecting dust. As for all the other social shit it can do, I really do not give a fuck.

Re: Are you excited about the Xbox One?

So far I've liked the Xbox more than Playstation but I have to say that I am entirely dissapointed by the Xbox One.

I am not an online gamer. I don't play nearly enough for that and I don't really see the point in getting a Live membership. I don't see why I have to connect to the internet for offline play.

Also I am a college student and my university doesn't really let you hookup your gaming consoles to the internet. You have to jump through a bunch of impossible hoops to get it done, so basically no one can connect online at the dorms. I would just have a giant overpriced brick were I to get it.

Also me and my friends borrow each others games all the time. Especially at college where everyone has different games Imagine having to lug everyones Xboxes down just because you wanted to play games that different people owned? What happens to families that can afford to have two consoles in the house like one for a living room and another for a bedroom? if you can't share the games between consoles whats the point.

And also why the hell would I pay a fee to play a game someone else already beat and sold back? I might as well buy the full price game since I'm paying the same anyways.

There are a lot more problems with the system that I don't feel like typing and getting pissed off at. The sad part is is that besides all this crap that they are providing the consumers, some of the new features look really cool although they don't nearly outweigh the cons.

They have a couple months before the release, they better fix this shit and reprogram that shit fast. They aren't stupid they should start to realize soon that no one is going to buy this piece of shit.

E3 was meant to be where Microsoft redeemed itself but the more they talked, the worse it got! And to top it all off, PS4 is undercutting Xbox One's price.

I've never seen such a failed reveal in my life. There is talk that they will start a huge social media campaign to swing the mood. Somehow I don't believe that his would work. They had their chance at the E3 to announce some changes. But? Nada.

I honestly don't think they'll change anything until after it is released. I am going to assume that they think people are all talk right now and things will calm down by the time it is released, that could possibly be true but I doubt that would be a significant amount of people anyway.

You're probably right, I forgot how soon it actually is coming out. Too many egos to deflate, not enough time.

But I dunno, I'm still holding out some hope they'll panic and scramble to do something, however unlikely.

I think the folks @ Microsoft are betting that the early adopters will love it and rave about it, then more and more people will become convinced about the merits of the system, too.

It probably will be a decent product.

I'm a PlayStation guy, though, and will remain so. I really don't see a compelling reason to switch to X-Box or to buy both One and 4.

Well today MS announced they're removing the Xbox One DRM requirements concerning the 24 hour check in and used game license. I guess finally they're listening to the public. It wouldn't shock me if a year after release they reinstate it though.

They're listening to the bottom line, which is if it doesn't sell we don't win. I think the many comments their idiot spokesman has made at E3 and beyond about it not being for the "casual" gamer as a way to explain the price, constant internet usage and Kinect have made me far more wary of the system.

Not saying this isn't a step in the right direction, but i'm damn sure saying it's not enough.

If microsoft wants to WIN they will announce a $350 xbox one bundle, you get an xbox one without kinect, along with a microsoft exclusive game, and a controller.

Make it available for a week. They will be back in the race and not just Sony's bitch. They need to take the loss and get Xbox One's out there.

Will they do this? Hell no. Instead they will get their asses sliced by Sony and then Nintendo when Super Mario world 3D is release in December and all over again when Mario Kart is released in the spring.

Killer Instinct is free with 1 character, but there will also be a full retail version like any other game. And even if you were to download it for free and eventually buy all characters the price wouldn't be higher than the retail version. Which is really not that bad of a model cause I honestly don't use every character in a fighting game anyway, unless there were unlocks involved with all of them.

And Dead Rising 3 sounds way too disappointing. Capcom stated they're trying to reach the "Call Of Duty crowd" with this one. That sounds absolutely awful to me.

Also I am still not interested in Xbox One without DRM because I really don't trust them. There has been so much back and forth with a lot of information when it comes to the console in the first place. And the fact that they could just add this shit in later considering the DRM thing was apparently "built into" the console.

    No.

I may be PS bias, but even with these changes, $100 is still $100. I can't believe I'm pulling the "recession" card but someone had to, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Well it's a good start and it has at least started me looking at the system as an option but they really need to make a great pitch now. Why should I abandon a perfectly good system for a $600 system which spies on me?

They need to get rid of the spying and make some great and quirky games. Not grumpy 30 year olds leading a covert ops x1000 but a couple of little big planet type games.

As it stands I think they'll release to a huge hoo ha, loose billions and just keep releasing games for the Xbox 360 as well as the one to turn a profit

Well, okay so I am super excited about the PS4, and wasn't going to even get an XBOX One, BUT they screwed me by making Dead Rising 3 exclusive to XBOX One!! I can't live without that game so...now I have to get an XBOX One. And the thing that's funny is that everyone's like "Oh yeah, Microsoft is going to lose a lot of money, no one's going to buy this stupid system," etc. but now I hear that the preorders for XBOX One are like sold out everywhere so...not sure what's going on.

That could just mean there are fewer pre orders available for the Xbox one

Wow. After all this one - not a single person has voted that they're excited about Xbox One.

Actually, a lot of industry insiders are saying our poll was the tipping point. The lack of preorders on the Gay Agenda scared them straight.

Yeah. Same here. They fucked up so bad, I don't care what else they change (or add) to the system at this point.

So yes, I've come to the decision that I'll be getting a PS4...to briefly distract me from my 3ds.

    In a word, no.

I'm not even excited about Playstation 4 and I have a Playstation 3.

I am excited about Windows 8.1 later this year because it means I can finally buy a new desktop pc.
